Motherwell manager Terry Butcher will investigate reports that Richie Foran played Gaelic football at the weekend.
He is said to have taken advantage of the international lay-off to play as a substitute during Joseph's/O'Connell Boys' victory over St Vincent's.

"I was not aware of that," Butcher said of the striker's reported return to his native Dublin.

"I will speak to him on Friday and if it's the case then I will seek an explanation from him."

Motherwell signed Foran on his departure from Carlisle United during the summer.

Aberdeen had dropped their interest in Foran in 2001 citing off-field problems while with Shelbourne, including breaking a Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad curfew.

He was also fined by Shelbourne
