    Fixtures 2012

    Out tomorrow at 2pm

The Premier Division fixtures for the Airtricity League 2012 season will be released on this website on December 22 at 2pm. The fixtures will apply to the Premier Division only, as the Airtricity League has received applications from prospective new clubs to gain entry to the First Division. Due to the licensing process involved for prospective new clubs, the First Division fixtures will be published when the licensing process is complete on February 12, 2012.
All fixtures, both Premier and First Division will be subject to the final decisions of the FAI Licensing Committee.

Good work from the FAI again this year, getting them out before Christmas. So much better for booking flights, etc than getting them in February.
Have you ever won the treble?

So First Division clubs have either to do all their close-season business in 19 days, or more probably, spread it over the next two months with no guarantees of any football?

Pure ******, grand for Premier clubs, but this is pretty ridiculous for the First Division. Surely it shouldn't take them 2 more months to get that sorted?

Let's say for argument's sake 14 teams get in to the First Division, how are they going to work the fixtures? 26 games is too few and 39 is too many for the low paying/amateur set ups. Some kind of a halfway split perhaps?

Provided it's planned in time, 26 games would be fine. Maybe bring back the shield if clubs really want the extra matches.

You'd want to know before signing any players to contracts which it's probably too late for at this stage for most clubs. Not a lot of point paying players for 36 weeks if you're only playing 26 league games plus maybe 2 cup games.

Unless I'm missing someone thats 13 teams that have applied for a license and are likely to be in the First Division if they get one (failing a team from the Premier not getting a Premier License).

So theres no chance we have a 14 team league, I think a ten or 12 team league is much more likely though I think they should allow every team in that is close to the requirements as there is nowhere for any of these teams to go if they don't get in.

I'm inclined to agree with you on that count

Much as I hate to say it I'd be very surprised it they give GUST FC a licence

Good stuff. As always, will be looking out for the Bohs fixtures, regardless of what sort of team they put out it still is the stand out fixture for me. Cork & Derry away are great trips, lookin forward to them

Cork away is the one next year.
proper city, proper support, and I'd wager will go close next season, especially with Dan Murray at the back.
Welcome back carkies ,you were sorely missed

there should be a whole load of hoops goin down for the game, although murphys law dictates the game will be the day after the Rose's gig!

Home first and last. Same as last year please. If it's not, I'd rather play away first than last.

Cork away is always hard for us, so one trip to Cork mid-season will do.

Anyone else really excited? I'm like a kid on Christmas, I'm more excited about this than I am about actual Christmas

and like actual Christmas, it will be interesting for 5 or 10 minutes and then quite an anti climax after that

Cork City v Shamrock Rovers opening game would be close to a sell-out IMO.

Definitely, it would be packed out the doors, it would be a dream start for us if it happened.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
