welcome aboard the goodship foot.ie, can be hit and miss getting a new thread going, who d'ya reckon are yer best chances of getting to the open draw rounds of the FAI Junior Cup? Roscommon are paired with Sligo/Leitrim, from my(sligo) point of view City Utd, Manor Rangers and Boyle Celtic would be the 3 teams for our divisions who would be the best chances to progress

Probably Shiven and ballinasloe. But cant see them going very far after that. Maybe in the connaught cup. Also how come there are only a limited amount of clubs this year from Sligo entered

Ballinasloe and Castlerea would be the best hopes of progressing to the next round. Shiven are league winners from last year but dont play much football. they are fit and well organised but that wont take ya to far in this competition. A team must play decent football. great to see a roscommon and district section on this page. Well done to whoever set it up. anyone know who is taking the Oscar Traynor team this year

There is a recession, just may be clubs in the Sligo area are counting there cost,
may be someone from sligo league might give us the answer.

My club didnt enter this year cos of the expense of a good run(very unlikely!!)....last year Carbury, one of our strongest teams, had to travel to Cobh ona Sunday, if they won they had to travel to Pike the following Sunday, they decided after a players meeting that they couldnt afford/commit to fulfilling the two fixtures so they gave a walk over to the team from Cobh. They got fined and banned. As ye might be aware the facilities/money in Sligo football are a bit behind the Roscommon clubs, some of our bigger clubs are well able to compete, but the majority arent so they dont enter

there was a couple of matches on the friday night before john sherlock died on sunday leading to the sunday games getting called off.
where as the divisions below that one have odd numbers of teams so teams would have different amounts played. division 3 is the biggest joke of the lot!
Havin a weekend away is quite frankly, lettin ur team mates down!

Looks like at least one Roscommon side will make it into the open draw for the FAI Junior Cup.

City United gave Roscommon Town a good hiding last weekend 6-0 is fairly impressive. Roscommon have been going fairly well in the Roscommon League. City have been scoring very heavily this season. They should be too stong for Boyle in the next round.

They are a point behind Skyvalley with two games in hand. Also 2 points ahead of Roscommon.
How do you think things will end up 1st,2nd,3rd and relegation?
