    Finn Harps

Comfortable win for the Youths tonight in which Harps never recovered from a poor first half. With the key Shane D, back, Youths started Packie, Wolfie, Aidan, Anto, Gareth, Kevin, Shane D., Shane S., Jimmy and Gary and Danny up front. Youths went in front with the first corner of the game when Wolfie ran unopposed past the near post and flicked it with his head inside the near post which the Harps keeper tried to save with his feet but the assistant gave it. Looked close to me. Wexford then continued to dominate with Danny and Gary causing trouble to the Harps' back two and Danny could have had three goals but for going slightly too early each time and was caught offside. Second goal came again to Wolfie just before half-time when Anto had a free header and ball rebounded to Wolfie just inside the box who swivelled and his volley hit the top corner with his left peg. Great effort from him. In contrast, Harps couldn't find their forwards with anything and Packie had little to do other than one good catch from a cross. Two nil at half-time.

Harps had the breeze in the second half and had two great chances in the first fifteen but couldn't convert either and you knew it wasn't going to be their night. Firstly, a cross ball found their right winger in loads of space but his shot coming in from the right was drilled straight at Packie who blocked it away. A few minutes later, a deflected cross fell to the Harps forward in free space around the penalty spot but he again shot straight at Packie when it looked easier to score. Wexford sat back from then on and tried to catch Harps on the break with Gary being well found by Shane D. but his first touch pushed him wide and he drilled it over the bar. Gary's goal then came about five minutes from time bizarrely from a Harps free-kick which was taken very quickly and hit straight at Jimmy who was just getting up from the tackle and was about a yard away. Ball rebounded to Gary who then beat the centre-half and pushed it wide of the Harps keeper with the referee waving play on. Packie had a scrambled save late on also but Harps had one of those games where they looked as if they could have played all night without scoring. In addition to Wolfie, Aidan did well alongside Anto in place of Breener and Gareth had a good game in our graveyard slot of left-back. Hopper came on for Shane S. midway through the second half while late subs were Muzzi who had a couple of good runs down the right wing and Martin Kehoe. Three nil at full time.

    Wink

Local papers confirm that Wolfie scored the first two goals against Harps. Hope he continues his goal-scoring form against teams from the North-West.
