B]why does it make a difference that we're playing Brazil? Surley, you pick your best team if you want to win the match, which Kerr does. These old gaurd, a good few of them let us down in Basle. It's time for the youngsters and fringe players, who are better imo, to step in. Why persist with players who couldn't get the job done against the Swiss? We heard the very same arguments then, we need experience ect ect and as I said then we would regret it and we did, we'll be absolutley destroyed by Brazil.

Total agree, wot good is it playing McAteer + Holland etc they've been there and seen it. And as Slash said they weren't good enough for the swiss. The young lads should play for the experience because we r goin to need it against france. Does it matter if we lose, surely it is better to be prepared for the france game etc. This type of expierence is invaluable to a young player.

Who put the ball in Englands net? Sheedy Sheedy!

    All hail Kevin Sheedy!

IMHO the Irish starting 11 more or less picks itself.

Shay, Robbie and Kenny - no debate. Matt and Killa walk into the team on the strength of their current premiership form. Carr shades out Finnan. O'Shea despite the form has no competition at left-full. Clinton now getting permiership starts (and the odd goal) gets in - again no real competition

Kav deserves the start after what hapened v Canada. Jason McMuppet edges out the "tried before and never worked" Carsley and Delap. Only real choice is the second centre back. Personally I'd like to see Doherty or Shea (if we could find a left-full). I suspect Kerr sees the choice as between Dunne and O'Brien.

BTW - Brazil now use four at the back -and supposedly play 4-3-2-1 with BFR supported by RonII and Kaka. With Ze Roberto selected, it looks like they should match our 4-4-2 instead.

    Can't wait!!!!!!!

What's taking Brian Kerr to announce the team. There's not much point in keeping it a secret from Brazil till just before kick off. I can't see them changing tactics depending on whether its Breen or O'Brien at centre back.
