I bought a 500GB one about a year and a half ago, and still not even half full.
Hello fellow techies.
Anyone have any good advice on portable hard drives, or ones worth getting/one that are value for money?!

My Goal Is To Deny Yours...
Personally I would only get one that does not require separate power supply. Aside from being annoying you will probbaly eventually mislay or lose it...
I would be surprised if that I TB can be powered by USB drive but you never know...
Just went to my local computers store on a similar mission (only fact finding this time as am skint) and was talking to the guy in the shop. They have some portable 500gb for €129 and a desktop 1TB for around same price. I need it for laptop use really so think the portable one is the best option but not sure. Also he said that the brand he had (he had another one cheaper there too) was better coz if there was a problem it was easier to recover the stuff. Was he right or trying to get more money out of me?
You can get a Western Digital 1tb for under €90 online these days. Easons had one for around a €100 a couple of weeks ago.
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
Thanks folks. What so great about these 1tbs?!

Size. Be careful about 1TB, the drives are fairly solid now but they're still overpriced and more importantly it's a lot to recover if something goes wrong. Unless you actually NEED a single 1TB drive, you'd be better off with two cheap 500GB drives. Better yet, save up and lash out for something with RAID.
