How about if we got him to play for the rugby team for a few games first ? !

I don't think he does have Irish qualification.

Was only going by Wiki. I appreciate that this is not an infallible source.

I understood he didn't either. Anyway he's quoted as feeling Danish due to his mother.

16s and 18s are non-competitive age groups, so any caps at that level wouldn’t count. (17s, 19s and 21s for UEFA and 17s, 20s for FIFA)

Current interpretation post-Ryan Johansson is that he would need to have had citizenship before he represented another country competitively. So, as wiki implies qualification via a grandparent, he would have needed to have been added to the foreign birth register 18 months ago - which I’m sure he wasn’t

I'm not aware that Matt O'Riley ever had any Irish qualification, just England, Denmark and Norway apparently. Surprised that Denmark haven't capped him yet. The spelling of his surname in itself suggests that any link to Ireland would be a long way back - it will have been anglicised from O'Reilly to O'Riley at some point and that kind of thing only really happened generations ago.

I don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I recently found out that Jude Bellingham qualified to play for if - https://www.balls.ie/football/jude-b...h-links-535652

With that in mind, should the fai be having a word with Jobe?

I thought it was pretty common knowledge tbh, I think he even registered with Real under an Irish passport to avoid being a non EU player
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Yes, he is registered with Real as "Irish" so that he counts as an EU player.

The top five most expensive English players all have Irish passports (apparently)

    Grealish, Rice, Kane, Maguire, Bellingham?
Robertson and McGinn in the Scotland team also Irish qualified, as well as Ampadu in Wales.
Throw in our own Bazunu, Collins and Ferguson and you'd have a hell of an eleven there. Even Stephen Kenny might have gotten that group to the Euros!

Saw an interesting surname in the Sheffield Wednesday line up today and asked myself if Danny Cadamarteri was still knocking about. Turns out to be his 18 year old son, Bailey. Wikipedia says the son is of Irish descent (as well Jamaican and Italian). I think the Italian and Jamaican is paternal so the Irish may be maternal. His brother's name is Caelan (also a footballer)...

I seem to recollect that he was eligible for us.

Just saw Martin Devaney (ex Cheltenham & Barnsley) tweet about his son Jacob being in the Man United squad for the FA Youth Cup. Martin's parents both Irish according to wikipedia.

Switched on the Hull Blackburn game. Delap just scored a beautiful solo goal. Took a long ball in his stride, went wide, cut around his man and carried the ball inside, created an angle for himself and beat the keeper at the near post. Would love to see him sign on for the BIGs.

Jamie Donley is Spurs best prospect, left footed striker. Antrim born (Norn Iron dad, English mam), spent his childhood up North.

Represented both Norn Iron and most recently England under 19. Appeared for Spurs in Premier League this season.

Doubt he has any interest in us. As you say he was in with the North and playing up the age groups for them before switching to England. He obviously would be a full international for the North now if he wanted to be.

I see Jack McGlynn has been called into the US senior team's January training camp. It is a very experimental squad with 17 of the 25 players being uncapped and apparently it has an eye on the Olympics. As an U-20 World Cup "standout", a writer in the Athletic reckons that McGlynn is "very likely" to be named in that very "roster".
