    "Tallaght Stadium Update
20 Feb 2009. As well as confirming the first match in Tallaght on Saturday March 14th, the club can confirm that the SDCC will be building a stand on the east side of the stadium and that this 3,000 capacity permament structure is expected to be open in June. The current (main) accommodates 3,300 spectators."

This was posted on the official site today and from what Ive heard from some people in the know, the Rovers v Rovers game in Tallaght will definately happen!

Our and your fixtures are reversed every week, meaning on March 14th, we're the last team to play at home in the league, and yous are the last team to play away, given that both clubs play Saturdays. When we're at home, yous must be away, and the reverse is also true. It guarantees a Saturday night game* every week of the season.

I think having at least one game every Sat is good for the league, if Setanta or TG4 or whoever start showing these games and the two Rovers' get plenty of coverage I wouldnt be surprised to see some teams switch some games to Sat next season.

My bad. I obviosly take bhs' word for it. But the word in my workplace was that it wasn't going to be ready for our match and that came from what i thought was a good source. Great news! Hope i get a ticket.

The TV channels switched games from Saturdays in the last couple of years to show on TV on Friday and Sunday evenings.

This is the 2nd round of fixtures and in fairness, you said that if it sold out 'surely' it would be televised. That's not the reason it's being televised, it's because it's the first game in Tallaght.

I never said it wouldn't be on TV (its the the best game that week) I said it wouldn't be on TV because it was sold out (realistically, how many sligo fans wouldn't have got tickets (who wanted to go))

if sligo get 150 tickets as has been suggested, there will be a lot of disappointed fans. if it was not a sell out, i am not sure that shams would be keen on live tv broadcast as it would badly impact on the crowd attending.

    1) Clubs don't have any say in whether games are on TV or not. In the last couple of years most have complained about games they've been forced to move to Sunday (or Monday) for TV

    2) When you say a lot, its at most 500 Sligo fans who would go, but can't get tickets. RTE will not put something on TV just for 500 people

Its the game that should be on TV week, so they made the right decision

maybe there might be more than 3000 from dublin and 500 from sligo wishing to attend this match. thats why its on tv.

what do you think the attendance would be if the full stadium was open?

there were 800 sligo fans at the cup game in tolka last year.

Ya and there was only about 80 of us at the Cork game second last match of last season.

Get a grip sligored - come on you cannot actually think RTE are showing the game for thebitored fans!!

There was also no way 800 Rovers fans were at the cup game last year. Even have a look at the footage from the match 800?! Not a hope.

RTE are showing it becuase it is Shams first match at the Tallaght Stadium and therefore should pull in a decent TV audience relative to other League games.

How many Rovers fans can or cannot get tickets to it is really irrelevant to RTE.

OMG for once I am agreeing with Dodge.....where is my medication!!
