Sun Today has it that Drogheda,Cork,Cobh, Athlone,Harps & Bray have
outstanding wages due to their Players as of the 30th November.

I thought Waterford were also in trouble but no mention of them.

As far as I know Harps had the players sorted, or at the very least an agreement in place before the deadline.

PFAI said that 4 clubs have missed the deadline. Cork have admitted to being one (which given the recent cash injection from the Kevin Doyle clause sell-off is a bit worrying for them)

Theyve been adding more clubs to their list so. on friday the sun were reporting that athlone town, Drogheda United, Cobh Ramblers and Cork City all had outstanding wages due. They didnt mention Harps or Bray though.

Did anybody read the rule that gves 30th November as the deadline?. Typically nonsenical, apparently the clubs must have no overdue payments to Revenue or players by 30th November unless they have it paid in full, or an agreement in place to pay at an agreed time, by 31st January. In effect you're in breach of the rule if you don't have the money paid by 30th November unless you pay it by 31st January?!. The rule is quoted in the Indo

"The licence applicant must prove that... it has no payables overdue towards employees or Revenue/social/tax authorities as at November 30 of the year preceding the season to be licensed unless by the following January 31 they have been fully settled, deferred by mutual agreement with the creditor or are subject to a not obviously unsound dispute submitted to a competent authority."

I think the general gist of it is that players etc had to be spoken to and an agreement put in place by the end of November ... with all outstanding wages etc to be fully paid up by end of Jan

The 'just one league' idea is a complete non-runner; gap between top and bottom is waaay too big, even allowing for next season's cutbacks.

That may be the intention Ash but the wording of the rule means you can do nothing until 31st January and still you won't be breaking the rule. It's badly phrased.

The Revenue are going to be very tough to deal with after the Cork & Drogs examinerships. The 31st January deadline will catch more clubs in relation to non payment of PAYE/PRSI.

Are Cork's outstanding wages all post-exit from Examinership and after associated paycuts?

    Worrying if so.
