Limerick's winner was a penalty, was there anything weird about it?

Edit: Apparently Cobh's manager has gone as far as contacting the FAI about this. Not sure they'll want to properly investigate.

Gary Manning, head of Limerick's Academy and U-19 manager has quit "in light of recent events and developments directly affecting the academy players": https://twitter.com/G_Manning7/statu...34202630615040

You have to imagine it's due to an attempt to use them as strikebreaking labour.

This team of scab children they're considering Fielding is the typical kind of daft, think you're being clever but you're actually being really stupid, cartoon villianry that we do so well as a league.

If the players are on strike Cabinteely won't play. So what's the point of the scab children??

Is it the most cunning of cunning plans??

    Limerick field their scab children.

    Other teams refuse to play.

    20 walkovers.

    First Division champions.

Would Cabinteely refuse to play the kids though? When it would result in sanctions against themselves? Going out and slaughtering Limerick would be better for the strikers position I would think.

Cabinteely have a few pros (I presume looking at their squad)

I know it's the 21st century and no one cares about anything anymore etc but I'd still like to think passing a picket is a no no.

I would agree, but it wouldn't be fair on Cabinteely if they were sanctioned as a result. In fact, as stated, we'd have the bizarre situation where O'Sullivan and company are being rewarded for their actions, potentially.

Presumably if players picket the officials won’t pass it ?
I doubt the FAI would let it get that far (match would be called off in advance)

I guess it would be a forfeit rather than a postponement?

The FAI who awarded this guys regime a licence despite several near strike misses already, debts all over town and clearly, demonstrably unable to meet the running costs of the club for some time.

Live 95 Sport can reveal that Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett has confirmed that “The Chairman (Pat O’Sullivan) met with the (Limerick FC) players this morning and that they are going to be paid tonight”.
As usual I'll believe it when I see it

Apparently a decision to end the threat of strike action will be taken tomorrow morning, depending on if the money is delivered as promised.

Between The Stripes reporting the pro's have been paid by cheque and the semi-pros expenses are to be paid next week. Game against Cabinteely is on.

    Ohhhh, that's very cynical.

    And exactly what I thought.

I believe they were paid last month by cheque (for the month previous to that) and they cleared.

But these could bounce and I wouldn't be surprised.

They should all take time off to go to the bank wherever it is and find out there and then if the money is actually there
