Markey signing a two year deal also, said he was assured the style of football wouldn't be changing so that probably rules out any links of Doolin etc.

That's good to hear. And possibly hints at Ger O'Brien. Wouldn't be unhappy with that. The only thing is I wouldn't like to lose him from the club if it went pear shaped. It might be early for him, but he's always struck me as a manager in waiting. We have a decent record with Liam and others of being patient with managers too.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Yea, pats have a pretty good record of sticking with managers (many other fans were surprised Bucko lasted as long as he did). Ger O'Brien might have to grasp the opportunity if it arises.

A part of me - perhaps naively - believes Ger when he says he doesn't want it yet. He's got a decent a decent director of football/coaching gig and a good bit of time on his side for the moment. Could easily see someone like Harry Kenny getting it and Ger coming in after when he has his badges and a few more years of coaching under his belt. Who knows though.

Indeed, Rennie going to Pats would be a step down for him.

Wouldn't touch him with the proverbial barge pole.

never ceases to amaze how quickly some clubs fans get ensconced up their own rectums.

According to that article the main contenders to Kenny Cunningham are Paul Doolin and Pat Fenlon. For a club that have experienced open passing football under Liam Buckley for the past 6 years, Doolin or Fenlon would represent a big culture shock.

I'd be surprised if they were in contention.

From the names I'm hearing if it's not Harry Kenny it'll be someone who has never managed in the league before or even managed before....

Doubt it'd be Fenlon or Doolin, or even Cunningham for that matter considering he seems to be of similar ilk (going off what he's said when doing punditry anyway) and Pats have stressed the point that that they'll be sticking to someone with as similar a philosophy as possible to Bucko's.

On the subject of Pats, where has Christy Fagan been this year? Injured or just not getting his game?

He picked up a by all accounts horrific knee injury in training back in June that has him out for the foreseeable. Had surgery on it within a day or so of it happening and I think he still might be going around on crutches according to some of the lads that saw him at Tolka for the LSC final. Wouldn't even be fit for the start of next season by looks.

Obviously a massive shame as despite his faltering form in recent seasons Christy will always be a hero at Pats and I think everyone was still willing him on where they would've ran out of patience with other players. Would have liked to see if he could turn it around under a new manager but as it stands I'd say he's played his late game for us.

Very sad for him. One of the best finishers of recent years in LOI when on form. Hopefully can make a decent recovery.
