Great stadium though and really enjoyable city.

As an aside they have possibly the worst team crest known to man.

I might fish out my Hertha Berlin scarf for this match and pose as a Berlin supporting barstooler...

I'm would have a reasonable guess that the temporary seats in the RDS may present problems and may not be useable.

It all comes down to how well they are anchored.

Temporary seats apparently aren;t permitted according to the UEFA Stadia Regs published in 2006 - although that stance may have changed since

    Thumbs up

Good draw for Pats considering the alternatives. Might be some good German TV money available too.

Winnable implies that there is a possibility Pats may win the tie.

Ergo, nobody is getting ahead of themselves.

Heard this morning, that Pats home leg might have to be played in England. Croke Park and the RDS are the only UEFA approved grounds at this stage of the competition and arent available for the dates involved.

I wouldn't be counting on a massive TV payday. Hertha aren't that big a club in Germany, particularly compared with Schalke, Dortmund, Hamburg, and Stuttgart, who are also in the competition.

They'll only get decent money if they agree to an early kick off.

Doubt it. The ground takes over 80,000 I think and is rarely sold out.

Is the RDS approved? It hasn't hosted a European match since Euro licensing came in so I doubt a UEFA delegate has visited it never mind approved it. Usual lazy journo papertalk me things.

See above re the temporary seats issue.

Approved or not its a bad state of affairs if not one Loi ground cant hold a first round proper game. If Drogheda had qualified this season for the Champons League stages, where would these games been played? Dalymount should of been revamped years ago.

First leg confirmed away. Flights booked. 220 all in for me and the missus.

Not winnable, we'll make a couple of quid on it, and the fans get a decent trip out of it.

The game will be in Dublin. Not confirmed where though.
