Semi Final info from the FAI....

FAI Carlsberg Cup semi-final draw on Thursday

The semi-final draw for the FAI Carlsberg Senior Cup will take place on Thursday next, September 18. It will be held in the Mont Clare Hotel, Merrion Square, Dublin at 4.00 p.m.

The draw will be made by Pete Mahon, who has just been appointed the new manager of U.C.D. in succession to Paul Doolin, now at Drogheda United, and Pat Devlin, the manager of Bray Wanderers.

This year’s final will return to Lansdowne Road on the Sunday of the October Bank Holiday week-end, October 26. Mahon and Devlin were the two managers of the two finalists when the decider was played there in 1990.

Mahon was boss of non League St. Francis while Devlin had charge of Bray Wanderers. Victory went to Bray with a hat-trick from John Ryan, now playing with Kildare County. The final was played before a crowd of 29,000.

Thursday’s semi-final draw will be shown in the sports segment of RTE’s Six-One News bulletin at 6.40 p.m. approximately.

The clubs through to the semi-final draw are St. Patrick’s Athletic, Galway United and Longford Town. The fourth semi-finalist will be known after tonight’s quarter final replay between Bohemians and Drogheda United at Dalymount Park (kick-off 7.45 p.m.). The sides drew 1 - 1 at O2 Park in Drogheda last Saturday evening.

You all say that but would it not make financial sense for the FAI to garantee at least one country club in the final? Us or Galway would surely bring more than Pats or Bohs (given the GAAAAAAH mentality that cups are more important than leagues)...

Oh sweet couldn't have asked for a better draw. Lansdowne here we come.

Come on Longford, we need a regional team in the final to get a big crowd.

Great draw from the FAI's point of view. I'd say ye are pleased too. What price now on Longford Pats in the final? Either way it should be a good match for the neutral. Well worth the trip to Landsdowne, and an even stronger chance of a major trophy outside of the city.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!
