Over the hill at 31??? Are you serious?
Andrews is a squad player in a depleted squad. Reid, Dunn and Grella all to return, lets just say he won't be a firts team player for long.

Its not his age that concerns me. He hasn't played regular week in week out football since 2004-2005. He is also the same age as a certain Ian Harte!

I think Andrews will be given a chance and its up to him to take it.

Thats simply not true, he played the tail-end of last season with Rovers after missing the first half of the season with Betis. He played 18 games for Betis the year before and thats over the course of a season that included a number of injuries.

He's a bit different to Ian Harte, Harte never came close to playing to the same level as Vogel. This is not a discussion about Vogel anyway, he was merely being used as a point on how Andrews will struggle to feature in a fully fit Rovers squad.

Andrews will get a chance as everyone else at the club will now Sam Allardyve has taken over but it is an undeniable truth that if Dunn is fit he's first choice, as is Reid and then Grella. Behind them you have Johann Vogel who is extremely likely to feature should he get games under his belt. There is already talk of Allardyce bringing in another midfielder, possibly Bullard so that would push Andrews lower down the pecking order. At 28 he's at his peak and will not get much better, he's a very limited player and I think out of his depth at this level. If Blackburn were to push up the table he'd be one of the first casualties of an ambitious club.

The fact of the matter is that right now, Andrews is in the first team. Whether or not he's good enough for Ireland if Vogel or Reid or Bullard or Nolan or whoever comes in is an argument for another day.
It's an unexpected pleasure to the Ireland manager that he gets to decide whether or not a regular Premiership starter can fit into his plan for the Ireland team.
For what it's worth, I thought he was the outstanding player in the B game VS Nottingham Forest (ahead of the goalscorers) and he took his chance in the friendly against Poland by scoring after coming on as a sub. I would not be disappointed if he was named in the squad for the Georgia game, and I believe he would be worth a start.

Trapp is actually sitting next to Capello at Ewood Park. I'm sure Trapp is pointing out that he has the better goalkeeper!

Andrews hasn't done anything wrong in the first half so that will keep him in Trapp's thoughts.

He was at the Preston v Burnley game with Alan Kelly at lunchtime.

Not that brief edited highlights give a proper picture but it looked like Andrews played well against Newcastle, covering ground, making at least one crunching tackle and he was heaviy involved in the third goal, carrying the ball and playing in Pedersen who squared it for Roberts (?). Good to see him keeping his place under a new manager alright.

Looked like he had a stormer in the highlights but recieved a paltry 6 in player ratings, and a mere 3 points in Fantasy Football. Whats wrong with these people, Keith Andrews is the best footballer in the world, EVER.

a thread i started to get blackburn fans opinions on andrews. most fans give him excellent reviews, with the odd fan stuck in the 'league 2 player' mindset.

I firmly believe he should start against Georgia (with Whelan).

He really reminds me of Barry Robson of Celtic.

Hopefully Trappa and Capello(sitting together) must have come to the consensus that Andrews should start for us, he was excellent on Saturday. I think he is one of those players that will continually rise to the challenges in front of him. Much the same as Kevin Doyle does. Allardyce is a fan and he is starting to garner a lot more respect from KNOWLEDGEABLE Blackburn fans.

He has some shot on him and pops up in dangerous places like Lampard does, passes it well, and can tackle. Would love to see Whelan and himself start against Georgia, with Whelan being the more defensive of the two.

Trap will have a hard time relegating Gibson to the bench but it must be done because that is where he belongs, for the time being at least anyway.

Yep, I'd start Whelan & Andrews too. It'd be a bit of a risk but any combo of Whelan, Gibson or Andrews would be a risk.

Kind of scary that our 3 central midfielders vying for starting places have just about 10 caps between them. Have we ever gone with such an inexperienced CM partnership before?

Even more scary, I just realized that Liam Miller is our most experienced CM. Let the nightmare end....

would agree with that, i'd be happy with an Andrews / Whelan midfield.

Diarmo I can understand what you're saying about an inexperienced midfield but lets not forget that both of them have been around the block for a while and Andrews had been captaining MK Dons for a couple of years so i don't think it'll be a problem.
Now if Gibson started on the other hand......
