UCD had a player who came on as a sub last week against Derry, just out of Under 16s apparently, Keith Ward. Don't know if he's the youngest but he can't be far off
who is the youngest player ever to play in the league of Ireland?

Could ahve stuck this question into the youngest team thread nearly! Our youngest has been Gareth Wallace - 21/02/1992. Has a fair few international caps at U15 and U16, think he might even have captained the team at some stage.
Ramblers have had 3 sixteen year olds play in recent years. Current player Mikey O'Shea may have even been 15 when he made his debut a few years ago.
LESS OF THE BULL NOW!
Galway Utd have the record for youngest average age of a team to play a top flight game in Europe, its 19.9yrs or something like that,Ajax had been the previous holders of it.
i remember about 3-4 years ago Monaghan had a 14 year old on the right wing playing against our U-21's, think the score was 8-1, and the 14 year old set up the goal for Mons.
Jonathan Douglas played in the league for us before he joined Blackburn Rovers - he can't have been more than 15 at the time.

Yeah, it says he was 16 on his Wikipedia page.
I'd say there's been lots of 16 year-olds (can think of several at United alone), record has to be 15 (or younger?)
Mitchel Casey was 16 when he played for us against Shels 2 years ago and scored.
was there somebody that played for sligo rovers aged 16 years who made his debut for the club? was it keith gilroy by any chance???
would reckon this happened ten years ago..
