good result on saturday.was very imprssed with eric lavines work ethic.while hes playing like that he cant be dropped goals or no goals.mcgovern was as solid as ever and barry although dodgy at times did well.im not the greatest fan of dillon but i thought he played well.
anyway any1 no who we play in the next round.obviousley we wOuld have a bettewr chance if we were drawn at home to galway united.

While I agree to a certain extent, we need both strikers scoring goals.... We can't rely on Francis the whole time....

Ignore Max Power, he is no more, the future is Ron Burgundy. I'd love to be Ron Burgundy but they won't let me........

Well done to the Town for reaching the semis..... Galway at home or away sounds great.... coming home for the rest of the season around that time!

    Talking congrats on getting galway

What a nice draw we got. At least Mr Foley cant play due to aclause in the loan agreement. Odds on Mr Levine to score v Galway, anyone. What time is the kick off?

My 36 hour week ends on Friday noon and so I will get a rare half day. Anyone on for a few early scoops before the game?

Post Foley Cup place in doubt

    Foley Cup place in doubt

The meeting of Longford Town and Galway United in the FAI Cup semi-final sees a potential row erupting between the sides over the availability of the Midlanders defender Kieran Foley, who is currently on-loan with United.

Foley’s contract with Galway states that he cannot play against Longford but manager Alan Matthews has vowed to have a re-think and discuss the matter with his board in the very near future.

Longford are due to play the First Division side on Friday October 3, at Flancare Park and as Foley has been ever present for Tony Mannion’s side since his move to Terryland Park, the Galway manager is keen to play the centre-half against their Premier Division opponents.

“We will talk to Longford about it, “he said. We will approach it properly without creating any rancor. We need to promote the match. We certainly don’t want to go in the game haggling and fighting.”

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
