    Decent Cup Draw

Have to be happy with cup draw. Bray at home gives us decent chance of making semis

We still have to split the gate dont we? Looking forward to this game but its the league that matters all the same.

only League points matter from now, we're not in a position to win the cup and extra games don't help at this stage of the season. just hope we can get some extra cash out of it but I won't be too upset if we put out a weakened team and go out of the cup.... we need to get some league wins quick.... Cobh, Bray, UCD, Harps and Sligo are all on the horizon... best concentrate on getting some points out of those games....
    innit though??

    Would trade a cup win.

Id gladly choose staying up instead of winning the cup,i think 99% of us here would.ITs a pity to say that though because we have a real chance of getting to the cup semis on t.v etc and would be a great occasion.BUT WE NEED LEAGUE POINTS,10 GAMES LEFT,I THINK 5 WINS WOULD SEE US SAFE.
IN saying that though we will all be there for the q.f,we beat them 3-0 in the league cup q.f a few months ago.

Great draw, surely we can fit in an extra game with full-time players. Whats the point in complaining about certain players not getting a start and then hoping to get knocked out of the cup. A semi-final would bring in extra revenue and raise the profile of the club. However, agree that next match against Cobh is crucial, a win down there could be a turning point as team is actually playing decent stuff. A clean-sheet is a must.

I would have to say that the team is playing better but unfortunately the defensive lapses remain. And not just defensive lapses from the defenders either - Midfield have also been guilty of this

I d disagree. Its being so long since we won anything i'd happily take a yr or 2 in the first division for a cup win and european adventure

I'm with K BUrke on this, and I know I am going to be hounded for saying this, but if offered it right now I would take winning the Cup, a trip to Europe and relegation.
The run in Europe should mean we would keep our better players and would hopefully bring in a few quid.
As for relegation, I am still feel ma bit 'dirty' about our presence up in Premier, would prefer to dsee us go down, reorganise, and come up as champions with a solid solid structure in place.

I want to win the cup, play in Setanta, play in Europe AND stay up...........think of the amount of DVDs we could produce on the back of that. Then there's the tv royalties, the recording contracts, movie rights ........Ahhhhhhhh

How would we actuall fare in the first division? Remember the huge crowds towards the end of the season when we got 'premoted', If we went down and made a good impression down there and came back up within 2 years with a better squad surely its not the worst thing possible...not saying we should give up but its not going to be terrible IF we go down!

Objectives for the remainder of the season should be staying in the Premier Division, and winning the FAI Cup.

It will be terrible if we get relegated. Does anywhere remember the last time we were there ?

Drawing 1-1 at home to Kildare in front of 290 people.

Well said Pat & Ultra that's what I would choose , but saying that we don't have a choice as it's up to the playing staff , board and the fans to keep us where we are in the priemier league . The cup and all the trimings is just a massive bonus .

Ah but do you remember the atmsphere when we beat Shams just a couple of years ago? Obviously I want us to stay up, but it would be nice to win a first trophy in more than 10 years too.

It's a cold dark place down there, a few decent games but mostly shin kicking contests against teams with little prospect of promotion and no ability to build for the future, to hell with going back there and to hell with the cup....
    innit though??

Again it was said by someone that we are the Longford of last season , yes they got to the final but lost out and look where they are now and they are not coming back up for a year or two I can bet .
