Seagulls soar

Cobh Ramblers 1-2 Bray Wanderers
Bray Wanderers jumped to the summit of the First Division table following a narrow victory over Cobh Ramblers on Saturday night.

Bray leapfrogged Finn Harps and Kildare County to join Dublin City on 42 points at the top of the table. Pat Devlin’s side are now well on course to bounce straight back up to the Premier Division after suffering relegation last season.

Seagull’s hero Eamon Zayed fired the visitors in front after only 12 minutes against Cobh on Saturday evening. The Cork side are now well out of the race for a play-off spot following this result.

A win would have provided them with a slight chance of making the play-offs and they brought themselves level with a Willie Bruton penalty in the 45th minute.

Parity didn’t last long though, as Bray native Stephen Fox pounced to restore his side’s lead in the 54th minute.
