The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Whilst Kildare County didn't have a supporters trust per say, our Supporters Club did some "bailing out" (before it was cool!). Alot more than any supporters club would be expected to I guess. The Supporters Club leaders also arranged things like merchandise sales, half-time kids games, etc. We even got representation on the board towards the end.

Just thought I would give that a mention. The Supporters Club did alot of things a fans trust would do, just never really got the same official links with the club perhaps.

Maybe if we had of done so earlier things would not have gone so badly in the end!

Thats the reason why i think that even if a club thinks that they dont need it right now, i think all LOI clubs need to have an active supporters trust who are working towards a rainy day. And its probably more important to be working hard during a clubs 'good times' so they can safe gaurd against any bad times. There hasn't been one club in this league that at one stage during the last 10 years can say they wouldn't have needed to have a supporters trust for their club.

    Heart of the Game

Is a change of guard in any of those above? Any new additions? Definitely a few of the clubs listed above as not having a trust could have done with one being in place. Again, the reason alot of them start is because their club is in crisis .... Always take the opportunity to take advantage of a good crisis, never let it go to waste !!
