So Newcastle are down. Not trying to be smart or anything, but it couldn't have happened to a more deserving club. Perhaps now they'll get their act together.

Slightly disappointed to see Middlesbrough lose out. A club trying to go about things the right way, unlike Newcastle. Hopefully they'll have a good season in the Championship and bounce back.

Did anybody hear waht the RTE panel said about that? I missed it....

delighted to see newcastle going down good club / fans (but hate shearer) he waited untill last 8 games to go in as manager so he could not lose if they were relegated .. if such a geordie legend why did he turn job down around xmas/ january 1 win from 8 games beat middlesborough !! team had no passion / desire last game against aston villa went out with a wimper he has to take some of the blame instead of blaming everybody else

FFS, what's so bad about Phil Brown celebrating that he kept the side up?

Nobody would have expected them to stay up this year but they did. He should be allowed to celebrate, he's earned it.

He has done a fantastic job there and they were amazing in the first third of the season. However one win from 22 league games and surviving courtesy of another result on the final day should, in my opinion, have led to slightly embarrassed relief, not idiotic showboating. He's a tool.

Also do you see one player on the pitch as he is singing. Not one player.

Have you ever seen a team that has avoided relegation on the last day of the season go "Oh, thank God we stayed up but let's just keep calm and forget about it"?

I haven't. Usually, there are celebrations and pitch invasions by the fans. Why can't the manager join in?

I'm not critisising him for being happy, I'm critisising him for being a moron. The guy has no class and is deluded about his self importance. I wouldn't have minded so much if his team had put a credible run together in the last few weeks to pull themselves out of trouble. Instead they continued on their shocking run which he initiated with his ridiculous antics at Eastlands.

Don't know what Phil Brown was doing yesterday. OK fair enough celebrate away but going singing around the stadium was a bit much after being extremely lucky to stay up. They'll go down next season. Great to see Burnley come up, they deserved it over the season. They'll need to oust a few heads ie Chris Eagles over the summer, he's not a Premier League player

I think Brown's actions were graceless. The RTE panel were quite right in what they said about it. There's a certain way to celebrate. How would Shearer, the Newcastle players (the ones that give a ****) and, particularly, the Newcastle fans, feel when they saw that? If I was a Newcastle fan that would drive me up the wall.
My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method, is love. I love you Sheriff Truman.

so you are saying the mighty/ humble newcastle fans would not have celebrated if they had avoided relegation... brown's actions a bit over the top alright but surely they are entitled to celebrate after avoiding relegation on last day of season.. by the way hull celebrations were not aimed directly at newcastle unlike sunderland fans who held up signs " lets all laugh at newcastle ha ha ha " now that is graceless and rte panel and everybody chose to ignore this

I can't say I'd criticise Sunderland fans for slagging the Toon(and believe meI'd have a lot more love for Newcastle than Sunderland), buts that's fan rivalry. I have no problem with the Hull fans, players or even the manager celebrating. However, to take a mike and start singing is just looking for attention and it appears that Brown just wants to be differant(thus gaining attention)...if the rumour mill is true he lost the dressing room after that debacle at Man City and if he stays there I will lump on them to go down next season

He was that even without the singing episode (which I didn't see as I have been away) but I suppose Hull stayed in the Premiership so even if he was the devil incarnate, that's all that matters to the Hull supporters. Saw the Newcastle game in a bar in Spain and the second half performance was abysmal. They got what they deserved. Wonder will Duffer stay with them.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Ancelotti the new Chelsea manager. Unless he wins the CL he says he will be a failure. No talk of the title. Just the CL. Obviously Abramovich has told him what the priority is to be. Tough target. Hopefully Chelsea will be a bit more attractive to watch.

Well in order to have a chance of winning the CL he'll have to keep pace in the league in all likelihood. Scolari didn't, and got the sack.

Barry to Man City?! I bet the Villa fans are not happy. He kept on moaning about wanting Champions League Football and then ends up going to a club who won't be competing in any European competition next season. I'm sure his £100k a week salary had something to do with it but will he even get in the side ahead of Ireland, De Jong and Kompany?
