The Limerick-Galway train route reopened today after a hiatus of 34 years.

well done to them, and I don't mean to be overly critical, but if I were to take a day trip to Galway from Limerick with my wife, it would cost 114 euros for tickets, and we'd be on the train for 1 hour 59 minutes each way. (if I've got my figures correct for both - I've calculated the prices as 4 one-way tickets, seeing as I can't find return ticket prices on the website.)

I wonder how attractive it will be as a travel option.

Return tickets on the trains are usually much cheaper than 2 singles.

I know, they're usually not much more expensive than a single. I just can't find the prices on the site. It's 28.50 for a single - so let's say 35 for a return - 70 for both of us. Still not all that attractive an option for me, I have to say.

EDIT: Read something about 20euro day return on boards.ie, so my anger is subsiding somewhat. It is interesting to see what the people of Limerick (as represented on boards.ie) think about the new service though.

    Somebody reported you?

How did you find out about it? And what are the consequences for you?

yeah, they took the time to note my reg plate and call the gardai to report me for whatever it is I did.
Got pulled over by the traffic corps just beyond the Portarlington exit off the motorway. Thought I was being done for speeding.
The garda told me they had received a call about my driving, asked if I had overtaken aggressively at any point, or had been tailgating. There was so much traffic on the road (because of the Munster - Leinster game) that I didn't really overtake anyone, and traffic was so heavy at various points that everyone could have been accused of tailgating.
Said he could smell alcohol, and I would have to be breathalysed. I haven't had a drink in two weeks, so I don't know where he got the smell from. Passed the test. According to him, nothing more will be done about it. No points on my license, no fine.
Still majorly ****ed off about it, wasn't a great day for me yesterday.

On another note, the Irish Rail website is one of the slowest, most glitch-ridden sites I've had the misfortune to use. Actually, all transport related sites in Ireland are abysmal- Bus Eireann, Ulsterbus etc. All completely non-user-friendly. (I genuinely can't remember what the opposite of 'user-friendly' is...it's late, I'm tired...)

right, random question I know, but I'd like people to give me names for the various parts of a lego block. Top, bottom, sides....no problems so far. But what is the name of the little pieces at the top, and what is the name of the hole they slip into when building with lego?
