I don't understand the big deal about New Year celebrations. It's just a date change. It's a bit strange.

On the dog thing, I don't get that either. I've had a few dogs (and cats), but don't get upset when they die. They're just animals, IMO. I don't get upset for the cow I'll be eating in a minute, don't see the point in getting upset over dead pets.

Personally a brilliant year.
Professionally a busy but stable year, which any of us would take.
Football wise, worst year I've ever had as a Cork City supporter [and Ireland supporter in a way], here's hoping for regime change!

Well, I'm an animal lover myself, and I tend to take the death of a pet dog as the death of a family member. But I like that you understand the whole hamburger scenario. I never understood people who could eat a cow, pig or a dear but went off at Asians for eating dogs. Pigs and dogs are pretty similar with regards to intelligence and behaviour, but people eat one and are disgusted by the eating of another.

This year in Australia, a Japanese dolphin slaughterer responded to an Aussie interviewer by saying that their killing and consuming of dolphins is no worse than Australia's inhumane killing and consumption of kangaroos. The interviewer took exception to this comment, but the guy had a point.

But, may I ask brendy, do you have pets yourself?

Had a perfect New Years. Playing Wii games with the kids, watching Jules Holland, drinking pink champagne, hugs and kisses at midnight and Moulin Rouge to finish it off. Bliss.
