Didn't even know my exam results from college were out today, only happened to see someone else post about them on Facebook. And now I immediately defer a year to move away...even though I'll probably not be back.

The only thing worse than having to go back as a mature student, is having to go back again as an even older mature student. My class was young enough as it was, despite me being only 8 or 9 years older than most of them.

Now next week, to top all off, I'm moving off to Carlow with the missus, and trying to squeeze in recording a full album in the space of that week with the band before we're all at opposite ends of the country.

    A fun week.

What are you studying, Nigel? Is is something that is offered in Carlow or Waterford ITs? You might be able to apply for advanced entry (is it one year you've completed?) - the whole point of the NQAI framework was mobility. Just a thought, and you've probably looked into it already anyway.

I have looked into it EG. There's similar courses in both CIT and WIT, and I'm sort of using the year defer for that too. Planning a year out to sort of settle down there, as I've a two year old child to look after, going straight into college there means I'd have to look into full time childcare, where I didn't have to do that here as my parents live only two miles from me in Letterkenny.
Probably more difficult in the long run, but seems to make the most sense at the minute, at least in my own head.

I wish you were one of my students! You've every angle covered! One thing, though: did you check out the courses with the Admissions Offices, or go direct to the heads of course? If a HoC wants to offer a place, the AO usually aren't as bureaucratic as they can be.

Best of luck with next week! Have you considered cloning yourself?

I had a bit of a chat with lecturers, head of department and admissions office in Letterkenny IT about my dilemma, and it was them, almost collectively, who suggested taking a year and deferring and re-evaluating around this time next year again.

Cloning myself was actually something my mother suggested funnily enough!

Best of luck with your move, Nigel. The scenery in Carlow won't compare, that's for sure.

Ah it's not so bad. Got a nice spot between Carlow and Kilkenny in the hills close to Bagnealstown. Lovely spot really...just a little annoying that I'll be so close to Carlow Town..one of my least favourite places in the country really. (No offence to anyone from there)

Folks, short question. working part-time on a project with Russia's largest sports portal. We're developing and English language section for the site and right now I'm tasked with getting some interested writers on board - tbh it's looking like getting some folks to write on English and Scottish football (as well as the odd piece on LOI/Ireland).

If anyone is interested in getting involved, just drop me a line. This is an example of the forerunners we began in March.

I have finally gotten a chance to do this as it's a holiday here (Russia Day) and after a grueling 1 hour dental ordeal, I'm using my free time to work.

ps Nigel, good luck with the move. Carlow's a nice little place and you'll at least have a shorter trip to Dublin and Cork to see Harps in the Premier next year! And 2 years old is gold with kids, I'm having the time of my life with my 5 year old right now!

Giving the Russians a weekly taste of our glorious LOI!

    Hope you failed.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

There are people in your life
    who've come and gone,
    They let you down,
you know they've hurt your pride.
    You better put it behind you;
    'cause life goes on.
    You keep carryin' that anger,
it'll eat you up inside baby

A bit OTT? I failed two students at an exam board this week: there's always a pang of conscience when you have to do it - after a semester or two with them they're more than just exam numbers.

    Apparently today.

Cruising at high 2.1 overall with minimal effort. High 1.1 in the crucial subjects.

Somehow got a 79 in Maths Methods. Delighted with that.

My absolute **** of an ex has just told me that she sold my Body and Soul ticket.

To say I'm angry is a serious undertstatement.
