Only a Bohs fan could confuse a man's pride in his work with child molestation.

Oh, sweet zombie Jesus, did that really need a ? I'm not indignant, though if I'd no right to resent the implication that my grandad buggered me, I don't know what I have a right to resent. Cork's continued existence maybe.

Exactly what I was going to say. I said I'd start studying the 29th, then in the new year, then today. I'm going to start tomorrow. Unfortunately, that's probably a lie.

Just on the theme of somewhat strange and amusing signs, I came across the one below on the side of a road while driving around Killarney around a month ago. I had my camera at the time so snapped it up.

We've no radios in Kerry so public-service announcements have to be visual and in public areas.

Entertaining as it is to watch, Darts is a game and not a sport.
The next person to tell me, without a hint of irony, "Phil Taylor is an athlete" gets a slap.

....and by the way [an oldy but a goody]

according to legend, Taylor was inspired after a private tour of Manchester United's training ground

He was brought into a room with a load of treadmills, with Roy Keane running away on one of them
The guide introduced him as "Phil Taylor, World Champion". Keane replied "former World Champion" and kept on running

Dunno if it's true or not, but I've heard it a few times
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

Yeah I think Taylor tells that story himself. Sounds about right anyway.

Also, the origin of "gets my goat" (there's no "up" in the expression) is disputed; theories include a drift from "goad" and a reference to the old practice of keeping a goat with horses to keep them calm.
