Kerry team chances slim in my opinion...

I can confirm that sugrue and kerins have left Lisselton. Balancing who have left against who is joining, I dont think Lisselton will be as strong this year but that all remains to be seen...

It would be nice to see any Kerry team go a long way in the FAI but for me KDL teams are still a bit behind some of the top junior leagues around the country.

With Carrick having won it last year I dont know will the appetite be there this year so I'd wager on Killester - at a guess.....

its wide open this year the 3 top junior clubs in the country have all taken steps backwards. top 3 being killester have lost there crack strike force of last few seasons, carrick have failed to win any of there opening 3 league games in waterford and clonmel town are winning games in the tsdl but are nowhere near as strong as they have been over past few seasons

I agree it will that the new lads there time to get to know each other.....

Carrick remember beat 10 man kill celtic in xtra time so iid say a kerry team is 2 or 3 years from being a serious contender although u never kno..

Killester had a lot of unrest and defections in the summer. Mick Keogh gone to Coolock Town, Dave Lacey and Al Connors gone to Tolka Rovers, the Murphy brothers and Terry Corbally gone to Sheriff YC. 1 or 2 retired as well -That makes up half their squad from last season gone. They will still be strong as their Manager Joey "Not Arrogant" Graydon has been busy and drafted in 6 or 7 excellent replacements. That was after he did his usual -

    Joey - "I'm leaving"
    Committee - "Ah please stay"
    Joey - "No"
Committee - "we'll double your wages"
    Joey - "OK I'll stay"

carbury(sligo) should give a good account of themselves in the junior cup, a bit of luck needed in the draw as usual. they were a fairly useful side and have picked up a few players from abbey utd too. only three teams get out of the sligo/leitrim/roscommon section into the open draw. carbury, city utd, boyle celtic, manor rangers, ballinasloe town and castlerea celtic would be expecting to be there or thereabouts from our section. castlebar, westport, ballina should make it out of mayo too......how will pike fair this year?? always knocking on the door

I would be very surprised, fair enough corbally are playing poor enough in the premier but so are pats who are in 2a!!! Extremely surprised if the 'boro or mungret go out even tho its the cup, think they are just too strong for the respective teams and especially with them both at home.

    Shannon 3 Prospect 0
Was not as easy as the scoreline suggests it flattered Shannon a bit to be honest Prospect played the better football , but tried to walk the ball into the net. Shannon are a big side and play to their strengths by hoofing the ball up to the centre forward to see can they get a flick on and it worked for 2 of their goals the other been a penalty a bad decision by the ref to be fair as the ball seemed to play the hand.
How Prospect did not score is amazing on another day they could have had at least 5 but it's all about taking chances . Shannons weakness is there defense they will eventually leak goals midfield is good got a few pacy players.

    Herbertstown 2 Coonagh Utd 1

Coonagh will be disappointed to have lost as they were on top for most of this game. Herbertstown's first goal was from a ball into the box which should have been cleared (nice first time finish from the No. 7 though), whilst the second was an own goal after a quick break away following a handball incident for which Coonagh felt they should have been awarded a penalty. Coonagh did score with a penalty late on (Niall Hogan), but could not turn their territorial dominance and possession into goals.

Quick shout out to stand-in keeper Dave O'Connell who pulled off one of the best saves a lot of us have ever seen to divert a mis-judged pass-back onto a post. Outstanding reflexes and great footwork allowed him to get across, but it was still an amazing save ...
