Rovers weren't deducted points for going into examinership. They were deducted points for lying on their license application. They sent in the 2004 accounts instead of the 2005 ones, and nobody in the league noticed until the propective new Rovers board pointed it out to them

I think you're wrong there. They were deducted points in 2006 because they played an illegal player, Aiden Price, but also in 2005:

2005 goes down as one of the worst yet one of the best years in Shamrock Rovers history. The club had serious financial problems. Following a period of examinership during the summer months of 2005 the supporters group, the 400 Club, successfully bid for ownership of the club. Financial irregularities arising from this caused Rovers to be deducted 8 points in the league table. Roddy Collins was sacked towards the end of the 2005 season with 12 months remaining on his contract. Collins took this dismissal to Employment Appeals Tribunal and a settlement was reached with the former manager in 2006. Terry Eviston and Alan O'Neill took charge of the team for the playoff matches of the 2005 season.

My basis for saying that Cork will be deducted the points is that financial irregularity will show in the examinership, given that they've spent way beyond their means.

It makes no difference really. It was the examinership that they were in that brought to light the irregularity. No examinership, no points deduction.

Cork also have blatantly flouted the 65% wage cap. They average 3,500 people every fortnight at home games. Taking into account people that get in for free, and season ticket holders, kids etc, they probably take in around €40,000 in gate receipts, and possibly another €5,000 in programme sales and merchandise etc. Thats €45,000 every fortnight €22,500 a week. That would enable Cork to pay €14,625, lets say €15,000 a week in wages, legitamately.

While I don't disagree with the general point that Cork have flouted the wage cap and spent excessively, it's disingenuous to only count gate receipts and merchandise sales as their income. They have several big sponsorship deals to add to that as well as fundraisers, like any club.

Whether points are deducted for going into examinership is moot as they will hammered for breaking the wage cap. I forget the penalties that were outlined but I'm pretty sure that relegation was included.

But thats not what you said. You said Cork would be deducted points, the same way Rovers were. I pointed out that they weren't deducted points because they went into examinership. So there's no precendent for Cork there.

If it happens to throw up anything against licensing, I'm sure they'll punished

According to the Indo yesterday,Cobh's account with BOI has been terminated by the bank themselves effectively closing their overdraft facility.Thats a serious problem for any company.could be the death knell for them i fear.Cork forced to sell Mooney for peanuts.
Could be a very small Prem league next season if all these clubs get points deducted!
