Spot on. Why do they leave it so late? Collecting several thousand euros in a week is a right pain in the arse.

The cynic in would say they leave it so late so as to persuade people to pay online which is less administration for them.
this thursday the irfu are selling tickets to supporters club members. pricing and notice was only given a few days ago. this is about 1 weeks notice for purchasing tickets that are up to twice the price of the fai tickets. for someone with big block bookings to pay for i would have sympathy for but for everyone else its a very weak complaint really. the fai ticketing system is by far and away the fairest in the country

Its not the FAI's fault two pulled out. No complaint on that score. Its the one weeks notice that annoys me. I don't have 500 lids to just throw out at the drop of a hat. What if I was on a weeks holidays ? I'd be fooked then.

To be honest they are very fair in the ticket office and if you were late they would ring you or write to you before cancelling the allocation and i'm sure they would let you split the payment if needed on a one off basis.
And you do know the dates of the matches well in advance so it's not as if's a surprise out of nowhere.
Im regulary away when the forms come out, as last week in Norway, and never had a problem.

Lets start a campaign so for the FAI to scrap the block booking system and introduce the rugby system.
Lets see. you pay €50 a year for the chance to buy tickets. You logon to a website retry for about 4 hours to buy a ticket 6 months in advance (at far higher prices than for football) and it all goes tits up. You can only buy half the games anyway.

Really wish they would get things in order and work out how many of the existing block booking will move to the premium and how much of the existing block booking and waiting list will fill the 33,000 seats.

The FAI has already announced that it will freeze the price of all general admission seats at the new stadium until at least 2012 (lowest price €40 for a friendly match and lowest price €50 for a competitive match).
Taking into account inflation, the cost of the 33,000 general admission seats at the new stadium will therefore fall in real terms in the period up to 2012 as a result of this price freeze.
In relation to premium seating, the FAI has been working with ISG on plans for the sale of the corporate boxes and premium seating.
ISG is the world leader in the sale and marketing of premium facilities at sports stadia. ISG has an unparalleled track record of working with sports venues worldwide to research and subsequently manage the sales process for their premium facilities. The company has been responsible for revenues in excess of €700m from premium facilities at the new Wembley Stadium.
ISG's process consists firstly of an extensive market research study to determine the optimal pricing and packaging of the facilities to ensure the packages offered match corporate and consumer demand.
A pre-launch phase is then carried out and this has taken place over the past month. ISG, on behalf of the FAI, has met with a range of corporate and individual contacts and outlined the packages and pricing.
The response has been extremely encouraging and provides further support for the research findings. These results will be reviewed with the FAI before the planned public launch on September 18th.
I doubt if too many bbers will take premium tickets.
However they haven't even gone on sale yet so nobody knows.
try getting an allocation of 79 for a supporters club and getting a week to pay.... the only reason its done like this is if results dont go our way in the two september qualifiers.. same happened last year with germany and Cyrpus tickets (I got a riciculous demand to pay for 104 tickets within a week in case we didnt perform in czeck rep and slovakia) and you guessed it..

A fair amount of Lansdowne block bookings were corporate tickets, Eircom, BOI etc.., especially in the central lower east stand and central west stand.
I presume a lot of these will move into the 10,000 premium level tickets freeing up general seats.
There are corporate seats which were in the middle of the old East and West stands at Lansdowne. These were part of sponsorship deals with Eircom, Pepsi, Umbro, Statoil et al. These were not part of block booking allocations though.
Now some companies such as AIB and BOI have Blocking bookings. These companies do not sponsor Irish football in anyway AFAIK. These were offered to staff for some games and used to entertain clients for bigger games. They may move to corporate seats but quite possibly not.
So just how many block bookers were there in Lansdowne?
36,000 capacity: 10% away allocation leaves 32,400.
How many tickets were given to sponsors? A thousand? A couple of thousand? There always seemed to be lots of sponsor tickets floating around for every game, high or low profile. I often got my hand on some, and it was never to difficult.
