    I'm speechless.

Conor, sweetie, you're deluded. And quite possibly blind.

Relax Conor. I didn’t say anything about Partizan’s arguments. Just the bit about you being a FF because it was in your family…

Conor, the reason people only propose the I hate Bertie/FF" line is because the opposition are so mind-numbingly boring and lacking any semblance of charisma or policy that people can't manage to get in any way bothered about them. FF are the only crowd capabale of stirring any emotion, be it good or bad as far as I can see. BTW, as for Bertie, I've yet to meet an FFer who has any time for him. He is an ignorant and pathetic sack of **** who I wouldn't trust guarding a ****ing dead daffodil never mind run a country

Bertie ain't ignorant by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, he's too clever for his own good. He's stabbed so many eff-effers in the back at this stage I'm surprised he doesn't shuffle around the place with his back to the wall.

    This is not true, Eanna.
There are quite a few politicians in all non-government parties who have initiated and written exellent policy documents and discussions. However, far too many media outlets report only the "sound byte" and spin and ignore some very sound ideas and imaginative vision of some people. FF/PD cannot be blamed for this, but their slavish devotion to the Blairite way of doing things, all facade and no substance, has taken virtually all debate and even meaning out of politics in this country.

Really? In the 4 1/2 years I've been going there, there have always been off topic posts and plenty of political debate.... Think that's what made it great tbh, it wasn't all football (although there always was loads of Bohs v Rovers sh!te)...

    Totally agree patsh....

    yawnnn

FF are the party of the people, why do they get elected so often? If had had a general election tomorrow FF would still be the biggest party because they attract the best politicians, people who whilst doing all they can at local level still serve the greater good at national level, bite the bullet, have the balls to do the unpopular thing if it is the right thing.

Every party has chancers, just as every party has excellent politicians, FF just have more.

Look in Cork, we have John Dennehy, Batty O'Keeffe, Danny Wallice, Michael Martin who are excellent reps for the city and the country. We also have two not so wonderful TDs but thats the way things are.

    Look at the also rans.....

Look at Fine Gael during the last election, they we going to compensate everyone and anyone who ever did something stupid in their lives. They were too scared to even have their budget audited for fear of what would happen. Wont be around much longer, especially with a leader who has the national profile of the St. Pats manager.

Labour will in time become the opposition, good thing they aren't socialist anymore. They have finally got a decent leader for themselves even if he is a bit of a pinko

SF dont think anyone will ever trust them with running the country, imagne McGuinness as minister for Justice.

Greens, imagne the damage they'd do to the economy.

PDs handy to have about to boost the FF numbers, if McDowell gets Mary out between the PDs and Labour they'll carve up FG.

I'd say the next few governments will be made up of either FF/NIMBY's, FF/PDs or FF/Labour.
    Oh no not them again

Surely a Political Party should decide which politicians they attract based solely on policies and not on whther they are in government or not. Glory hunting, in it for the money ****s

Didnt make myself clear, FF attract the best simply because they are the best. The policy scope within FF is huge, some regard FF as left of centre, others as dead centre and others(mostly non FF people) as right wing.

This is the biggest problem with politics in this country, and essentially boils down to the fact that there is little to chose between 3 of the parties.... The only differences are based on the civil war in the case of FF and FG, and the FF CJH civil war in the case of the PD's. Hence you have the ridiculous situation where the likes of Tom Parlon aren't joining parties on principle, but on what they get out of it. He was choosing between FF, FG and PD's up to a matter of weeks before the last election.

Labour is the only party that actually has any credibility these days, especially since Quinn and Spring fooked off out of it... They are IMO the only major player that is coming up with innovative ideas and tackling the Government (although that wouldn't be that hard considering the fook up their making).

Anyway sure we'll just stick another environmental tax on something and it'll all be alright...

Exactly, they have no coherent thought process, and everything is a fudge rather than standing for anything clearly.... Much as I hate the right wing policies of McCreevy and Harney at least the stand for something, which is more than be said for most FF politicians.

I'd eject Dennehy from my property if he came next to near me, O'Keeffe has never answered my queries with more than a fob-off from up the ladder, and neither Wallace nor Martin have ever had the courtesy to even acknowledge my queries.

In contrast, I've met personally with Coveney and Clune, I've discussed policy with both Brendan Ryan and Dan Boyle via email and I've have had unsolicited replies from Pat Rabbitte and Trevor Sargent on policy queries to local TD's.

Oh, and the fob-off I had from O'Keeffe was straight from McGreedy on the matter of Tobin Taxes, and it was a tissue of lies from start to finish.

    Vote Vetinari.

Your mixing up no policies and giving the people as a whole what they want. Different people have different views and aims, FF as a party is big enough to reflect the views of a small farmer from West Cork and a Judge from Ballsbridge.
