    Shamrock Rovers Vs. Sunderland

Just heard on Setanta that the game tonight has been "postponed"...they never said why? Anyone know? I heard the weather's bad in Dublin so I'm assuming that's it?
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

That is the reason. Hoping to reschedule the game for a later time.

Not just bad, apocalyptically bad. No way you could play football anywhere in North Dublin tonight. Absolutely bucketed down for 2-3 hours.

Walls of water falling from the sky all afternoon. Surprised the GAA wasn't washed out.

Only started about half three. Played in a mini tournament in Terenure this morning and it was warm and sunny for the whole thing.

    Heh...the chance. They'd play underwater..

Richmond Road flooded, game to be honoured at a later date. Hopefully won't affect Friday's Cup game.

Hopefully it won't effect the survival of Shelbourne FC.

"Tonight's friendly between Shelbourne and Sunderland at Tolka Park has been postponed because the pitch is flooded."

I suppose it doesn't really matter who was not playing.
The most appropiate thing to do is refund the price of the ticket to fans who want a refund.

Are you mad, why not just say the tickets for valid for the next 3 home games for Rovers!! The vast majority of those going tonight probably will never go to an EL game,

Well, I will say I am able-minded because I don't presume the profile of people who bought tickets for a pre-/mid-season friendly. I do know some football fans bought tickets for a game, game didn't go ahead. Refund the price of the ticket. Shamrock Rovers were unlucky with the weather, why cause unnecessary anxiety.

I assume this will be a big financial hit for Rovers, with the advertising of game along with the printing of tickets and programmes. I wouldn't even be surprised if they still had to meet some of Sunderland's expenses.

It bad enough not to be getting the expected revenue, but to have to meet the likely costs will be a set-back for the club.

Looking at some of the pictures from the ground and the weather forecast for the week adding to it, that's a pretty substantial risk..

Football club go to the wall due to heavy rain!!
Yeah, can see the headlines now

Relax, there's plenty for Shelboune FC to worry about but a washed out Tolka Park isn't one of them.

    You just worry about yourselves.
Between the figure you're paying Ndo coupled with the loss from the game today, you should be more worried about meeting the 65% targets than ourselves

Nope. Could be off for a while with their season starting and to re-arrange everything again
