If they were any good they`d be playing with better teams that sunderland, the problem i have is with the irish media, quinn, chawlke, all his annoying buddies and the new embarrassing irish fan group that all of a sudden has fallen for this pathetic attempt of trying to create an irish club in the uk.

Its a disgrace that plane loads are still going over on day trips to watch a team who will come no higher than 17th or 18th, ut this is nothing on the shameful elevation the irish media has bestowed them for what ??? Tradition ? Dont think so, decent and proper clubs with historical irish interest and a brilliant history over a hundred years like Celtic (and to be fair Rangers for the other side living here), now see their media space eaten up with this shambolic johnny come lately effort, or as Eamonn Sweeeney once wrote in the Sun Indo 'paddy come lately'.

The final cringo stroy was a feature on tyne tees (sunderland local tv region) interviewing supporters and they weren`t one bit happy with the irish coming over, saying to everyone this is an english club. Quite.

Sooner the get relegated the better. Championship is their level. Be interesting if the day trippers would still go then...............I think not.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

They're not an Irish club, nor are Celtic. If you want to find an Irish club, go to/stay in Ireland. Yes they have an Irish boss, and Irish players, but at Liverpool, we have a Spanish boss and Spanish players. Still makes LFC no more Spanish than Rovers.

Meanwhile at Rovers, all options are under consideration regarding the first game in Tallaght.

These players are usually part time and have a far less secure future than those at Sunderland and most of the football "fans" on this island couldn't give a rats ass about them
i couldnt give a damn about their wages. most of them are part of the national team and relegation would hardly help our cause (sorry, the national team cause which i know many of you despise). They are still Irish lads trying to better themselves but sure hang the lot of them for not staying in Ireland and playing in front of miserable crowds in miserable facilities.

to the rovers fans posting here... the cheek of any of you giving out about how any club is funded when you are currently on the end of a €10m hand out for your new stadium

In Rovers defence it's South Dublin County Council getting the handout and it's for a municipal stadium that will hugely benefit the Tallaght community. As a Tallaght resident I can say it's the kind of investment that is needed and valued.

i dont deny for a second that its the right thing for a local authority to be doing. people will take money from anywhere to better their clubs. SDCC dont need a stadium though, rovers do. its municiple value will be minimal other than for rovers use

If some of the knobs that Quinn got to invest in Sunderland had invested in actual Irish Football, maybe they wouldn't need a municipal stadium.

My main interest in the increasingly boring and predictable Premiership is Sunderland - and to hopefully see them relegated. They (and Keane) appeal to all the worst instincts in Irish football 'supporters'.

Don't you think they've been relegated enough times lately??

Bizarre comment since the fans-run Rovers are one of the few clubs in the league who are managing their finances prudently.

Nonsense. Having a top LOI club in situ will be of huge benefit to Tallaght and the greater SDCC region.

Nonsense. It's the right thing for the LA to be doing, but yet of minimal value?

They've been doing it while paying rent in Tolka all this time. The stadium being built is irrelevant. I'm sure SDCC would be open to another league club using it too if they so wished.

    I wish. .

We're going to be anchor tenants. The crucial clue to how much ownership that confers to Rovers is in the second word of the phrase.

Did this game go ahead? What was the score?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
