Rovers are asking people with tickets for the game to hold on to them and said that the game will be played at the next possible opportunity.
In other words they want to hold onto the money and not give refunds. Good luck to them but I can't see too many people wanting to hold on to tickets for a game that won't be played anytime soon.

Im sure you will find on the tickets it says if the match is postponed the tickets will be valid for the rearranged date and no refunds will be made.

I doubt that very much. How on earth could it?To state that Sunderland would have had to agree to come back to Ireland for a one-off game prior to last Saturday's game. I very much doubt if that were the case.
The spin from Rovers is that Sunderland have agreed to play the game for "the first possible opportunity". Sunderland have a free weekend in early September. Lets see if they come over to play this match. I bet that the possibility for the match being played during the Premiership season is zero.

Rovers, like all Irish clubs who play them, were no doubt in it for the money. Sunderland annoy my happiness- but at least their trips to Ireland are putting a few quid back into the Irish game.

The Indo reported today that the game may be postponed until February, and be the first game at the 10,000-capacity Tallaght Stadium.
That would be nifty, but I can't really see people holding on to the tickets for that long.
Most of the real Rovers fans won't mind, and a lot of the real Sunderland fans won't be too bothered either. It's only really the day trippers that will look for money back.
A lot of the Rovers crowd are not too keen on having Sunderland open the stadium as they know it'd be full even if Rovers first team played Rovers reserves. The fans want it to be all about Rovers and the true Rovers supporters, rather than day trippers there to see Keano and the boys.It's a fair point really, it's going to be a momentous day in their history.

Don't know were that ridiculious figure came from..... Only ONE stand will be complete by the time rovers more in and that will only hold 3 thousand, and H&S wouldn't let 7 thousand more stand in the ground, even with temp seats i can't see the 'stadium' holding more than 5 or 6 thousand....
Odds of 9/2 still available for Sunderland to go down, marvelous value if you ask me for a season long bet, just a pity the teams who came up this year are possibly the weakest in history, still there`s always hope they will get sucked in !
