    Kevin Hunt to retire!

Just heard on the 2fm. Kevin Hunt is to announce his retirement at a press conference at Dalymount this evening. Sad day for everyone at Bohs and the league. The best player in the league for the last 10 years or so for my money.

It's a pity. He was a great player.

I thought he was on his way back from injury when he came on the other night against ourselves.

One of the most significant figures in dragging Irish football into the professional era, albeit that the professional era itself overtook him somewhat. He was always overrated by Bohs fans in later years (with the greatest respect to him, he hasn't been among the top 10 players in the league since about 2003) but that's understandable. Very sad day for Bohs.

Best of luck to the guy. Hope all pans out well for him.

I spoke to last year i think for quite a bit outside the cross while they were waiting for the bus to turn up. Excellent attitude and something all players should aspire to having. Good technical footballer who is a model professional. The game needs more of them.

Where did he come from? Do they have anymore of them?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Always comes across as a very decent person as well as being a quality player. He'll be a big loss to the league. Best of luck to him in his retirement.

All the best to him. Isn't he only 32? Probably had a few more years in him, but I guess we'll find out the reason after the press conference.

Yes the perfect gentleman, always willing to chat to a LOI supporter, chatted many times in Swords and met him in Quinns after the rovers match in May and had a great chat. Best of luck were ever you end up Kev

A great player and seems like a great person as well, easily my favourite non-bray LOI player ever. All the best wishes for this LOI legend.

Shocked to hear this. Hunt was definitely one my favourite players in the League over the last few years - and one I also hoped Derry would sign.

Cheers Kevin and best of luck for the future.

Kevin Hunt is a league-wide figure, and that is reflected in the fact that most of the posts here are non-Bohs.
How parochial to move the thread from the main board.

Cracking player and a LOI legend.

    All the best.

ps Surely this has Eircom relevance and should have stayed in the main forum page?

the end of a magnificent era. The most down-to-earth and dedicated footballer the league has had during the last 10 years. The eircom league will be a worse place without him.

The only bohs player that rovers fans respected.
If only for the good natured banter on the flight to liberec.
he was at his peak a few years ago but was still a decent midfielder in the league today.
hope all goes well for his young family.

A top quality midfielder who was a pleasure to watch. A proper footballer who loved to tackle. It was a pleasure to have seen him play.

I wish him and his family all the best for the future.

Cracking player. I met him once or twice. Seems like a really nice guy as well. Best of luck to him in whatever he ends up doing.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
