Dreadful night. We lose at home yet again and Harps win away at Shams to top it off.

Just as we seem to be getting back on track we shoot ourselves in the foot.

Ya it always happens we are jinxed. UCDD were atrocious tonight. We outplayed them for chunks of the match with just 10 men.

    disheartening

why oh why do Galway Utd always give full games to newcomers with exotic sounding names and not a lot to show for it, why is glynn on the bench is he injured?. Why did jeff not stick with the same back four he had on monday night, how in gods name does someone like fitz continue to be picked. Who was fitz waving at in the stand before ucd lashed the ball in the net for the second goal. At the same time again like last monday you couldnt fault them for effort we had loads of chances in the first half but the new guy just doesnt look to sniff around the 6yard box like a real striker. Its crucial points we need.

I don't see how you can blame Jorgensen. He was left upfront on his own for almost all of the match despite the fact when needed to score.

He had a fair few chances so far just hasnt got the ball in the net. Glynn is the man to score them he should start the next game

    im

not blaming him, or anyone just frustrated i suppose, i still dont think he will
be prolific from what i have seen he doesnt have that killer instinct he pulled out of two one on ones against harps and derry whereas dupuy would have took head and all off the keeper. He got a lot of ball fed into him tonight to be fair to mccullough, conneely and murphy but couldnt seem to do a lot, and also im always intrigued that utd do this regularly based on the word of someone else who knows little about our league. Id prefer to see flahert/glynn but maybe glynn is carrying an injury i dont know tbh. The lad still deserves games maybe from the bench though for a few. A local lad would never get the luxury of going straight in for full games, dont get me wrong its early days yet. I also thought we were unlucky not to at least get a draw, but will someone please drop fitz

    P**s poor ref.

Lads, ive said it before but ill say it again,im seriously thinking of packing it in all together, how many games have been ruined by poor refs????If we lose to a better team becuase they outplayed us then ok but losing a game like this due to 2 brutal decisions and loads of other bad ones is so disheartening.
The winner was offside, came off a UCD player then fell to another UCD player in a blantantly offside position.he then took a shot, was blocked and then knocked in.And as for the Red card then if that was a red card so were 3 tackles by UCD's number 10.Lester wasnt the last man either.
Yes we couldnt score even when on top but if was 11 vrs 11 tonight im quite sure we would have at least drawn, aaaaaarrrrghhh,ok,rant over.

Twas a red card offence Eamo. Cant say anything about the offside cos I was in the old stand. But it has to be said that we are not getting ant decisions from refs at all.

I can't understand why Kenna made changes to the team tonight. Lester is not a good enough defender and an average midfielder. And yes it was a red card. Jeff has not got the pace for right back and in fairness conneely looks like he is going to be a very good player. Fair enough he got caught bad against Derry but the peno was harsh and he got no support when he was robbed for the second goal apart from that he was excellent against Derry.

Murphy was a disgrace tonight, ok he scored the goal but done f all else throughout the game and doesn't seam to link up at all with Russell. Tonight's game was suited to Foley style of play. UCD ran through midfield. Jorg was quite good i thought holds up the ball well but yet again support was not coming quick enough from midfield.

Rodgers needs to look up and start throwing the ball out to the wings or play it from the back, long balls up to lone front man all night???

Fitz just not good enough and certainly not captain material. O Shea tried hard and played well, Davoren tightly marked but done alright. Russel not best night but Murphs didn't help him one bit. Felt sorry for Molloy, looked lively when he came on against Derry. McCullough was solid again.

All and all was Ref and linesman (near the new stand) ruined the game. Murphs disgrace, Jeff poor decision to change team from the Derry match. Going to be a though run in now.

They played Monday night and were tired

in fairness conneely looks like he is going to be a very good player.
He could not get near the mervue for the last few years?????

Fair enough he got caught bad against Derry but the peno was harsh and he got no support when he was robbed for the second goal apart from that he was excellent against Derry.
    See last point

    Murphy was a disgrace tonight,
    Rubbish

    ok he scored the goal
that’s more than the rest of the team did

but done f all else throughout the game and doesn't seam to link up at all with Russell.
He also should have had a peno

Tonight's game was suited to Foley style of play.
He is only good enough for the first division

UCD ran through midfield. Jorg was quite good i thought holds up the ball well but yet again support was not coming quick enough from midfield.
He is a striker and did not score yet again

If he could keep a clean sheet I would be happy anything else is a bonus

Fitz just not good enough and certainly not captain material.
    True

O Shea tried hard and played well,
    We still lost

Davoren tightly marked but done alright.
Mmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhh im not sure about this

Russel not best night but Murphs didn't help him one bit.
    Russells was carrying an injury

Felt sorry for Molloy, looked lively when he came on against Derry.
    True

    McCullough was solid again.
    He is useless

All and all was Ref and linesman (near the new stand) ruined the game.
You win some you lose some

    Murphs disgrace,
    Rubbish.

Jeff poor decision to change team from the Derry match.
They were tired after the derry match and needed a change

Going to be a though run in now.

On behalf of many of the UCD football fans who were able to make it to Terryland tonight I want to thank everyone at GUFC for the warm and hospitable welcome we got. UCD fans were treated well before, during and after the game, thanks again.

The good start helped us in the end result, but for many at UCD we believe we need a good head start against Galway 'cos they'll just chip away the points anyway.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

You nailed it Tribesman.... we need to play Russell for the first hour and then bring on Murphy (who can score goals) together they weaken centre mid because they don't bully other teams and don't tackle hard, I'd have to say I 'd be much happier with Lester or Foley in there to toughen up the midfield, we also need to get a centre back in or to take a chance on Fenn in there because Fitzgearld is a liability in there. banana is more commanding in the box, talks to his back 4 and has much better distribution than Rogers, as for Conneely and Glynn not starting..... crazy
    innit though??

How can anyone still think playing Lester in midfield is an option?

Well hard to cap that's already been said .
I did think that UCD really took the game to us which was a shock I must say , we were burned by their pace and Mahon had done his homework and found that our back 4 were so slow even I think I would have had a chance for beating them in a race and the last time I knocked a ball was when I stood on the garden rake . We did look bettter when Conneely came on after 12 minutes but by that time it was all up hill .
UCD were the better team on the night again they were given a goal from the off and we were down to 10 men but hey that's life .

Thinking the same myself Eamo, I've had it with these morons of referees we get every week. Hanney was a disgrace and should be banned again after that performance.
I thought Kenna got the selection wrong from the start, but we were up against it with that clown of a ref, no matter what team we had out.

The FAI need to sort out these useless referees, they are turning people off going to games.

My father goes to the odd game in Terryland and cannot understand how people can watch the game with the poor standard of refereeing, you expect the odd blunder but the consistent dodgey calls he says make it too frustrating for him to bother going regularly

Watch the video; it was a dive, not a penalty (though as you know, I was sure it was a peno at the time). First call was irrelevant as you scored immediately anyway. Clear red, neither of our goals were offside; the ref got all the major calls right I think.

the ucd defender left a trailing leg, he stopped murphy from going around him. clear penalty if you obstruct a player its a foul. course you would say that though. if it happened to the taxdodgers you would be jumping up and down!!
