Just checking fixtures for the coming week, and it seems that RTÉ has decided that there aren't any. (Original link http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/socce...rdivision.html)
Of course, even though the English Premiership doesn't kick off for almost two weeks, they haven't failed to make sure that page is updated.
What league?
Wouldnt you know its a Bank Holiday Monday![]()
Is it? Is that a domestic bank holiday or an English one?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
The English fixtures have been up for weeks.
The Irish ones are always slow to be updated, and are generally inaccurate on most of the football sites, ie. games down for Friday when they're on a Saturday, and so forth.
I usually have to check paddypower.com to be sure!
I contacted rte last season and asked can they please stop starting off their sportsnews with english matches, esp on the day when irish games are taking place and also to stop referring to 'the premier lge' as the english version, oh and their flagship sat night progamme is still called 'the premiership' this a year after the brand name changed to premier lge.
got the usual nonsense reply
ps this has got to be the most annoying of all time, when people at work etc talk about the english premier lge as their very own domestic teams, then the ulitmate contradiction whenever england play an international match
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).
Don't worry, United Kingdom teams are on the way down and Irish teams are on the way up. Just laugh at their small minds brain washed by the media.
If you want them to stop talking about Man United etc just put a big Union Jack flag with Manchester United written on it and stick it up somewhere it cannot be removed. Eventually they will realise that they support a british team.![]()
Top three headlines on rte.ie the morning after the biggest Irish football story of the year: Bogball, Sunderland and Celtic.
