The other one I really liked was Demolition v Powers of Pain - especially when the mercurial Mr Fuji switched sides from Dem to PoP half way through. I was a strict demolition man - PoP wore too much flashy stuff for my liking

Anyone remember the Tito Santana/Rick Martel feud after Lightning Strike broke up? As good as HBK vs Jannetty after the Rockers split on the barber shop. We'll need a NSFW (not suitable for work)in the thread title if people want to nominate their diva of choice by adding a picture and we can decide amongst ourselves who was the fittest. I don't think the Dodge's of this world could handle their being 2 wrestling threads

If you want something that deals almost directly with the screwjob, watch Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitman_...g_with_Shadows - a documentary crew followed Bret for a year, right up until the match in Montreal, and the immediate aftermath.
I'd recommend Bret Hart's biography to all the wrestling fans on the site. It's a fantastic read that really gives an insight into life on the road in the WWF. It's one of those brutally honest biography's too, so parts are hard to take for those of us who worshipped the man in the ring but it's as good, if not better, than Mich Foley's first book
Bret Hart - Shawn Michaels for me. For having more of a basis in reality than the others.

Any fued with Hogan is dirt in my eyes because the man couldn't wrestle and made a career out of pandering to morons. Warrior/Savage was pretty good thinking about it. Ditto, albeit further down the prestige ladder, Savage/Crush. Bret Vs. Owen too. Actually probably by favourite ever was the Mr.Perfect/Flair fued.
On an aside Ric Flair has been a walking shambles for at least a decade now.
And other good wrestling books include Edge's and Jericho's efforts.
PS) Jebus, do I still have one of your Foley books?
PPS) Anybody read any of Foley's novels? 'Tietam Brown' is outstanding in my less than humble opinion.

Good to hear about the Hart book - must keep an eye out for it. I enjoyed the first Foley autobiog, not so happy with the second, still reading the third as an occasional thing. Heard Tietam Brown was great, but haven't heard baout the other one, can't recall its name. Anyone read it?

If you have one of the Foley books SLK keep it sure, I'll pick it up in paperback if I neEd it again. Foley's 3rd book is better than the 2nd in my opinion, liked the idea of following a wrestling concept from start to finish, especially as I quote enjoyed the Foley-Edge feud and then partnership. Haven't read any of his fiction but I hear good thingS
As for the Warriors feuds, I absolutely loved the feuds with Savage and Rude, top notch heels getting the best out of a super over face is what wrestling should be about (take note Vince McMahon), but Hart vs Austin was my pick, purely because it combined the fiction of the feud with an element of reality (standard faces like Hart getting less cheers than your average heel like Austin), plus their match at WM13 is probably the best I've seen at the 'Grandaddy Of Them All'.
On the point about Flair-Steamboat (and also Sting - Hogan), I realised about a week ago that I had calleD the poll the best WWF/WWE feud and then included WCW matches, my bad
The WWE has been terrible for about 5 years now (at least) anyway. They haven't been able to replace the likes of Rock and Austin, don't have the supporting main eventers like Taker, Mankind, Angle and Triple H anymore, and don't even have the up and coming stars like they had in the Hardyz, Edge and Christian. When you're main guys are all well past their prime (Triple H, Taker, HBK), not that good (Cena, Batista), or just worthless (JBL) then the product is in trouble. Thank God for Jericho's heel turn is all I can say, but the WWE's main problem (and what will eventually bring the company down) is that they have wiped out the territories that gave their stars from Jericho, Bret and Owen, HBK, Perfect, DiBiase and Jake Roberts their own identity and style. They are grooming all their superstars to be clones of each other, and it's just plain boring

Totally agree with you on the current state of the WWE but I think part of the problem is that they've persevered with washed-up, past it talent at the expense of some of the legitimate up and comers. The likes of Flair, Michaels and The Undertaker should have been put out to pasture years ago to make way for the likes of Edge, Jericho and even Orton. As it is the perception is that the newer crop, who should be established at the top end of the card by now, just don't quite have what it takes to carry the federation as they were denied a gradual evolution to the pinnacle by the refusal of the established names to move out of the way.
The exception, as you note, is the over-rated Cena. I don't mind Batista, in fact I'd go as far as to say that I like the guy. But in the same way that I liked Crush or The British Bulldog or Tatanka, as a mid to upper mid card contender worth the odd push or intercontinental run but not a top end talent.
Similarly I thought that Bradshaw as plain old Bradshaw was a monster heel (or anti-hero I guess) but this JBL nonsense has drained away at his credibility leaving him with nowhere to go really. Turning a heel into a whiny coward can work in the short-term but ultimately almost always sets a character back in terms of the bigger picture.
And I think we're due a few WWE/F threads:
Most under-rated wrestler: Carlitos anybody? Essa Rios if he could have spoken English even a little? Rhyno? Ludwig Borga? Adam Bomb? And obviously Raven.
Worst gimmic: Anybody from mid 90s WWF lower card really let's just give The Goon, Nailz, Duke 'The Dumpster' Grosse, Isaac Yankem and the Godwins as a sampler. I.R.S. deserves a mention too. A damn good wrestler and well able to work the mic, he did a lot with one of the worst characters ever foisted upon somebody who wasn't a complete bum to begin with.
Most over-rated wrestler: Leaving aside the obvious Hogan/Andre type sluggers I've always thought The Rock was a remedial in-ring talent and on the mic was just a verbal big mac, the lowest common denominator every single time...
Best theme song: Warrior obviously, Raven again, Mr.Perfect's was always kinda cool.
Worst indictment of everything to do with wrestling and wrestling fans ever: The Bushwhackers...

Glen Jacobs/Kane. I always thought Glen Jacobs deserved a lot more than he got in the schizo-retard creature that was Kane (even if Isaac Yankem was terrible) but I was still a fan. I think he's a great wrestler, just a pity he never got a big break.
On the current WWE situation, I think the main problem is that there's no more competition with WCW and ECW gone. There's no other major companies where WWE can poach the best and send their rejects. They've slipped into a comfort zone and the company's stagnating. Combined with Vince McMahon's giant ego and the lack of genuine stars, it's rotting.

Most under-rated wrestler: Christian. The guy was, and is, dynamite on the mic, and he's a solid, if not great wrestler. In this day and age he should have beaten Cena for the world title, especially as the fans in 2005 were crying out for him to win the feud
Worst gimmic: Doink the Clown. It started well, but turning him face was a disaster, still it took a lot of talent to pull off a terrible gimmick
Most over-rated wrestler: Eddie Guerrero. Dying seems to have made people believe that he was one of the greats, he wasn't and he was a terrible WWE Champion
Best theme song: Ric Flair, all the way
