Got my letter today and I still think that this is a bad solution. I also think that asking the players to do it is a terrible idea and in my opinion the whole thing stinks of desperation.

If you get a 3 year loan you have to pay an extra €592
If you get a 4 year loan it's an extra €784
The 5 year loan would be an extra €940

do you really think that a tenner a week from 100 people is going to do much good, the only way it will work is if you stump up 2k straight away

did you not read the letter it will cost you a tenner a week but the club will get the whole €2000 up front either from the bank or directly from the member. The whole idea is to clear our creditors so we can strart with a clean slate again but this will only work if we get the right people running our club.

As for asking the players why not!

Personally i think that a wage cut may be another option and players be awarded bonues for playing well and maybe just maybe it may give them the incentive they need to win a few games.

At the end of the day it will be every ones own personel choicw whether or not to sign up but i dont think all this negative talk will help the matter because i am sure we all want our club to survive and i suppose if that means digging deep then so be it if possible

this is really what should have happened first , set targets if you reach them you get rewarded, the carrot and the stick trick .

well think of it, were it you being asked in the current curcumstances, would you agree to a restructuring of your pay,

plus lads, must say given E2000 upfront one of the worst ideas ever, and i will say that to the chairman myself, fair enough it helps NOW, but when were all payed up, thats 100+ who you will not get any money off for another 4 years, tenner a week would appeal to more people, so a possible 200 people, E10 a week, is a nice steady stream of cash,

Forgive me for intruding, but you guys appear to be selling the family silver to get over a short term problem. The fact is in 3 years time, when the money from the scheme is gone, you'll still have to run the club with 100 less season ticket holders.

I also think that the story in todays indo about the players being asked to take out loans is a new and all-time low for the league that will have our friends at Platinium One rubbing their hands.

Just my views for what they are worth.

I've read some interesting points there with some interesting expressions, like 'Desperate Measures' -'New Lows' and Selling off the 'Family Silver'. So whats happening here? Are you guys suddenly shocked to learn that our club is in trouble? Infact there are currently half of the league clubs in desperately similar trouble, but I'm only interested in how and what our club does to solve our problem.
We are in a desperate situation so it calls for desperate (radical maybe untried before) measures. And maybe we shoud use the family silver to solve our problems before it is taken off us anyway. PCPLOD is dead right about one thing, This will only work if we have the right people with control over how this new income is managed. Perhaps in the immediate future we might see some movement in that direction. I also think, all the bull spoken about asking the players to play their part, is just that (bull****). Firstly -the players are being afforded the same VOLUNTRY option that you the members are being given to save the club. No guns to heads -other than to tell them how serious the financial situation really is. Its entirely up to them if they wish to listen and play a part in the solution. Just because it has never been tried before, doesnt mean its a bad idea. The players, just like everyone else reads the papers and probably these sites also, so are well aware what faces this club if a rescue package isnt put in place fast. But its not really the players that concerns me, but some of the above posts. Some have disected the proposed package left right and centre to find fault in an effort to avoid doing whats necessary. It is only €10 a week and yes, just like any loan in any bank or financial institution, Yes you will pay interest over so many years, so what? Its not a loan for a holiday or a **** up, its for your ****ing club - if you still want one. So cut all the bull**** and sign up, or simply do not. If you still think its a bad idea, then come up with one thats better and do it fast, or else shut up and stop pretending that you have the clubs interest at heart. Finally, I coudnt give a hoot what the papers or others from different league clubs have to say about how we do our business, becuasue after we sort this out and get the propper financial controls in place that Pcplod spoke of, then we might just in a position to sell on our roaring Rambler Tiger blueprint plan to other struggling clubs. DECISION TIME FOLKS!

    My Plan,
I know I started off this thread encouraging others to go for the deal but when I stopped and looked at it I have changed my mind slightly. I can't see many people signing up for the €2000 deal. What I would propose is €1,000 for 5 years membership. I think you would get 200-300 people take up this offer. Advertise it locally.
I know a lot of people who go to most of the games but not all of them due to work commitments and shift etc.
When they were deciding on wether to purchase a season ticket the first thing they did was estimate how many games they would be at and work out the difference in their pocket at the end of the year, I done it myself for years, only when I worked a shift that didn't involve Saturday nights did I decide to join up.
Paying for the vote didn't matter to me because I had no interest in getting involved in the fighting and arguing I heard so much about around the town.
Make an offer that is good value to the fans and they will respond.
Once someone becomes a member then their perception of the Club changes as they feel involved once they have their Card in their wallet and are getting mails in the door.
Once they feel more invoved then they will contribute more to the club in fundraising and that so the money lost on the initial incentive to take up a season ticket can be recouped in other ways down the line.
This is also a way of increasing gates as once you have a season ticket paid for you will want to go as much as possible to get the best value out of it, maybe even encourage a friend to go along also.
The other advantage is that a lot of people can afford €1000 fairy easily without the help of a bank loan. It is also less interest for the individual if they do take the loan.
I really think this would be the better option for the club an will get the much needed cash in quick.
    What do ye think?????

Nice One Rebel Ram, one to take on board. Sorry about the lack of paragraphs, but i would rather if people came back with productive answers about how they can and will help the situation, rather than how i lay out my posts.
I delibrately wrote it that way R-14 so you would have to read it 3 times -to get the message. LOL

Cork gone to the highcourt this morning. We need this money badly to survive.
I recon the players should take pay-cut at this stage, get more realistic wages. It needs to happen for the league to survive at this stage.

I see City were quick to put out a statement regarding their current situation.

Cork City Football Club has been engaged in negotiations with potential new investors for the last number of weeks.

It is too early to speculate on the outcome of these discussions which are still ongoing.

The board of Cork City Football Club will meet next week and come to a decision on the future of the club.

Some of the figures currently being reported today, particularly in relation to the wages of players and staff, are inaccurate and grossly inflated.

Because of the sensitive nature of the ongoing discussions it would be inappropriate for Cork City Football Club to make any further comment at this time.
