In fairness friendlies are pretty lame and I tend to avoid them. Give me a competitive game v Andorra rather that a friendly game against Brazil any day. No doubt there'll be a good crowd of Poles there - christ their women are amazin' maybe I will pop along afterall!

How can you tell just by looking at them? I think a lot of people see someone that looks a bit Eastern European and has a strange accent and assume Polish, don't forget the Lithuanian, Slovakian, Ukranian and other communities here too. Poland is experiencing a rapidly growing economy and building boom and large numbers are returning home, the majority never intended to settle here.According to figures taken a few weeks ago there's 63,000 Polish living in the country.
And on a personal level they're everywhere, often I'd see more Polish people than I would Irish on some days.
Where are you getting your statistics from?
Either way it looks like a decent fixture and should draw a good crowd.

We didn't come even close to outnumbering them that night. We got 6,000 tickets if I recall correcly and could have sold several multiples of that but we were well outnumbered. They setup different ticket sales for the Irish in Britain and only sold a handful of tickets that way but managed to exclude thousands of Paddys who dientified themselves as away fans and thus missed out on home tickets.
I know time does play tricks with the memory but I thought we had outnumbered the English that night as well ... I wasn't there - just remember watching on TV the mass of green in the stands at Wembley. We did receive a paltry official allocation but I'm sure quite a few 'home' tickets went to Irish supporters. I remember them saying that - based on the number of applications received - Wembley could have been sold out three times over.

I was behind the goal that Quinn scored into along with all the other 'official' Irish. When the goal went in, 3/4 of the people in the 'stand' to our right jumped up and cheered. I was living in London at the time and everyone I knew had a ticket for the game.
Think I got 12 tickets from the FAI that night. Those were the days.
