John Delaney is not an ambassador for Domestic Football, it's not in his job description to attend football matches. His job is to carry out the policies of the board of the FAI, that's all. Who knows, if the recent rumours of Eircom ending their sponsorship are true, Delanay may have been networking with potential sponsors for the domestic league. Once again, football fans show their mob mentality and knuckle-dragging tendencies without pausing for thought first.

And the number one policy according to Delaney himself is "promote the league of ireland"

This knuckle dragger, who doesn't mind Delaney attending the races, kindly suggests you get a ****ing grip onyourself, and try not to lump all football fans in with the 10 or so people who disagree with your point of view, particularly if their point of view is as valid as yours.

Alternatively, you can fück right off!

We only missing Paul O'Shea and we'd have the full set of knobs that only show up in this forum to have a pop at LoI fans...

What did he say at the San Marino game?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Both posts here are out of line surely. Telling a fellow poster to **** off is not on and calling people knuckle draggers is not on either.

its often argued that LOI players are performing at a lower standard and thats why they should not be considered for the irish squad, Its rare, very rare that a LOI club plays a club of dynamo Kyivs standards. Whatever about JD or even Trap but tardelli atleast should have been there.
Last night graham gartland showed what he is capable of, mcshane me arse.
we looked from Montrose to Swords, from swords to Montrose and from Montrose to Swords again but already it was impossible to spot UCDs right winger

Delaney should, and will, be judged on the quality of the league sponsorship deal he can get.

Gives the 10 year tickets fiasco (is that word banned?), I wouldn't be too hopeful, but if he comes up with a good deal for the league, regardless of how many games he goes to, he deserves credit.

I didn't tell him to **** off. I gave him the option of ****ing off, if he didn't wish to rethink his attitudes towards football fans, and by implication everyone on this site

People really love to have a bitch and moan about the smallest thing on this forum sometimes. He had made the agreement months ago to be at the Galway United Fundraiser, which went extreemly well by all accounts. He would have made Galway United look very foolish if he hadnt showed after they had advertised that he would be there. And yes it was a big game he missed but he didnt miss out on seeing any players that would be part of his plans for the next 2 years of his contract so being at the game would only be a PR exercise in truth, at least the PR exercise in Galway made alot of money for a club in need of it and will help us survive
    Its really not that complicated!!!

There would have been a thread if John Delaney had been at the game, I am sure someone would accuse of him of jumping on the bangwagon !!! Sometimes that man cant win at all.

    replace 'very with 'more'

You can't blame Galway in all this they don't nothing wrong to be fair but i would blame Delaney for not understanding the sporting calendar. I think his ego needs to start taking a back seat and he needs to stop hob nobbing it. Anyway i am sure the people of Galway would be happy enough to see Trapp and Marco alone, only in JD's head would he think people wanted to see him.

The Delaney out banner appeared over in San Marino, to which he flippantly said 'that probably something to do with Dundalk'.

I thought Noel Mooney was the man involved with promoting domestic football, not Delaney.

Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
    Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend

There were people on this thread bitching about Trapp not being at the Drogs game and my comment was mainly directed at that. Personally I dont think it matters either way where Delaney went, and I think way too much has being made out of it here. I do think its a bit unfair on him to say that he should have seen that Drogs were going to be playing last night in Dublin, for starters Drogs could have been knocked out in the first qualifying round and secondly the their 1st leg could have been away in Kiev. He was asked to go to the Galway function and accepted months ago, so come on lads Delaney has made huge mistakes but this was far from one of them and people should just let it go

I am introduced to JD at the Galway Races, i am already a Football fan and the conversation freely flows over a glass of chardonnay in between the first races. He talks about great strides the league has made and how each club are trying to attract more fans to the matches.

I like what i hear and i tell him of my company's interest in supporting the league, he is delighted as we are well known successful company which is highly regarded and the kind of company the FAI would love to have him onboard. I ask him about the Drogheda game is he hopping on a helicopter to make it, "no" is the answer, i make my excuses and leave his company but all the time thinking to myself If the CEO of FAI can't be arsed going to see the biggest game a club from the their league is likely to play then why would i bother sponsoring it, what does that say for the league trying to attract new people as his actions sends out a signal to the general public they can't be arsed with the league.

As i leave the room i shout back at him "that is a serious own goal you just scored JD and give the fingers and say no wonder Eircom pulled out".

Slightly off topic, but it was almost €4k per table of ten to be at the GUFC event at the Galway Races.I heard that one bank bought 13 tables.

Last year, the guests were Niall Quinn and Staunton.
