    Cobh Ramblers rules!!

    Hi,

normally I support Heracles Almelo in the 2e division in Holland but after paying a visit to St Colemans Park where I saw Ramblers playing for the Cup against Derry City I must say it's a cool place to go and the beer is very tasty too.
Will come out for another game!!

Didn't Dave Connolly bang in loads of goals for your lot?
The ball is round and has many surprises.

    That was Excelsior wasn't it?
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Yep...it was Excelsior, who are a feeder club to Feyenoord who Connolly originally signed for, becoming one of Europes highest paid players at the time. They loaned him out to Excelsior, who would probably struggle to stay alive in the Munster Senior League...whats all this got to do with Cobh Ramblers anyway???

No it wasn't your man Connoly, but we had a good one named Folkert Velten who scored an amazing 146 goals in 246 games. He was voted player off the year in Holland back in 95 or 96,the year they beated Ajax at home with 1-0 in the Cup

Hey, more dutchies on the forum. joeSoap is almost right. With David Connolly Excelsior almost became champions of the first division. But Feyenoord (who owned Connolly) took him back to Feyenoord in the winterbreak. In Holland winterbreak is in the middle of the season. Excelsior fans blamed Feyenoord for they thought that Feyenoord would not let Excelsior promote to the highest division. But if it wasn't for Feyenoord they would never have get that far. Connolly was loved by the Feyenoord fans but never really made it. A year later Excelsior promoted and was relegated a year later.

See you in Kralingen Heracles Almelo....

    Hey Heracles Almelo,
Were you at the so called riot at Rotterdam Alexander that the Heracles support caused?
I read about it in the papers. I live maybe a mile away from the station but did not notice anything.
