Old news, but good luck to Frank. Hope it turns out well for the guy.
In regards the Ciaran Foley who has joined Galway, a player told me that he believed it wasn't our Ciaran and was actually the Ciaran Foley who was with Longford this year.
Limerick FC legend Frank Browne has signed for Kilkenny City after surprisingly not making an impression in a couple of soirees for Janesboro. This surely represents an outstanding coup for Adolf Lynch and Kilkenny City, as the versatile Browne (equally efficient in all positions) is the only member of Kilkennys squad, ever, to have doimestic silverware, having played a starring role in Limericks league cup success.
Rumours that Janesboro are a better side than Kilkenny are completely without foundation, and Browne is said to have been lured to Kilkenny by sweet talking Lynchs' softly spoken, easy going style together with Kilkennys soon to be announced merger with Summerville Under 14's to strenghten their squad.
He will team up with yet another Limerick leg-end, Davie Dunphy, who is back in contention for a spot on the bench tonight versus Athlone following injury and suspensions...not to mention his recent release from a secret mental institution on Mulgrave Street.![]()

id go along with that and fair play to Frank. Over the last few days we resigned Jimmy Fyffe and Brendan Hughes as well as Summervilles John Shine who had a spell with Dundee United. Graham Loughman has departed the scene as he got a college place in Waterford and cant make it up to training or matches. We wish him well and hope he can get a transfer to LIT so he can join up again next season....providing we ahve a next season that is. John White is back for this weekend following his suspension and Stevo should amke te bench.
Frank Browne was under-rated by Limerick's fans. For a right-footer constantly played on the left he did ok. His positioning was a bit suspect at times but he was committed, a fine tackler and had a fair turn of pace. On the few occassions he was played on the wing rather than as a full-back I thought he did well. And given that he's hardly kicked a ball in anger all year a little ring-rust was to be expected in his first few Janesboro games and to pretend anything else is hugely unfair. I say best of luck to him and think he'll do alright for Kilkenny.
The ball is round and has many surprises.
