The Tony McGee proposal was put forward, i hope its a good one and that it doesnt cause all the good work by the fundraisers to be undermined by people slipping back into the comfort zone thinking everything will be alright.

What good work by the fund raisers?. The club needs 130k by end of August and it seems that about 35k has been raised. I'm not denouncing the efforts of those who have raised that, indeed they are to be lauded, but put that fact along with the small turnout at the egm and you come up with the inescapable conclusion that there is severe donor fatigue out there.Originally Posted by red_away

Tony McGee's sincerely meant proposal is pie in the sky. We cannot talk of businessmen investing in this or any other Irish club. if they do, they are donors, not businessmen, because this is not, nor can it ever be, a business model.
What we need to do now is to state that we are going to operate within a preset annual budget and we will play at whatever level that budget allows. We need to have, as a mantra, that we will seek to play good football at all times and that we will develop local talent with that in mind. if we can use 5/6 fulltime players and a full time manager within that budget, well and good but I would suggest that at least one of those players is also a youth coach.
A number of people I have spoken to and who would fall into the hardcore category have expressed a wish not to be asked to bail out the club in the future and it is time the club began acting in a responsible fashion.
Rant will continue when grandchild is finished on hobby horse.
I was aplauding those who are fundraising - whom should be applauded - those who are not fundraising do not matter much in this process!!!
Small numbers attending may have been down to short notice, mid week, little publicity - i know 4 people who have a right to attend but couldnt but would have liked to!
As for hardcore supporters not wanting to be asked for assistance any more?
I think the phrase is "Fickle Fans" - this club like all EL clubs will need constant assistance and we wont get away from the foreseeable future?
you just worry about getting racism out of yer club and we'll worry about our "small creditors"

I don't think anyone is complaining about regular fundraisers like the lotto, legends games, friendlies, race nights etc. These should be used as 'top-ups', and people are generally ok with them. I believe what was meant by the above statement is that the hardcore fans don't want to have to save the club from extinction again by being asked to raise X amount of money in 6 weeks like we have to do right now.
Well maybe you'd be better off posting it on the Cork City forum instead of making absolutely zero contribution to this thread.
