If the FAI were proactive what sponsors/brands would fit in nicely the league.
Guinness ?- Great in the winter , warm and flat in the summer.
I hate this attitude towards the league, the slightest bit of 'bad' publicity and everyone jumps on the league. Its doing ok, not great, room for improvement. But the last thing it needs is people constantly putting it down. I think the league is doing quite well considering the level of support and coverage it gets and performances in europe have generally improved. I wish people would support the league more, in fairness it has enough competition from within football (premier league, spl etc) as well as rugby and the gaa.
If the sponsors to the hurling championship pulled out in the morning, would there be such doom and gloom and everyone calling it a farce.............no there wouldnt. If eircom do end their sponsorship, fine a new sponsor will be found who im sure would be happy to avail of the coverage and exposure that a title sponsor of the league would get.

Seriously i am not hopping around the office so i have no need to calm down, you are getting upset because of the vodafone put down earlier
Don't be i meant no harm in it. Anyway your question makes no sense at all to me Dodge. I never said they were not doing anything did i? But what i have heard is the Eircom want to pull the sponsorship of the league and the FAI do not want to risk losing their sponsorship pf the national team.
Totally. The RTE screaming ninnies are something else. This kind of thing happens in all professional sport constantly. Yet it is only in our league it is looked upon as the kiss of death. I was cracking up watching the doom-laden look of the RTE reporters announcing this. Pretty funny.
A couple of weeks from now we'll have a new sponser, and this latest pussy boy outburst will be forgotton just like they forgot their terrors and arm-waving over Global Warming when their holidays came back around and it was time to use Ryanair again. Jounalists nearly being all alkies and addictive personality types tend to move form one overblown crisis to the next (it's like another drink, ciggie or coffee to them). The Irish being a nation of impulsive drunks follow suit every time.
The Irish are so easy to lead, and RTE love to whip them up into frenzies over nothing. Failing a new sponser, the Government will do what the do for the GAA, dogs and horsey crowd and use taxpayers money to pay our domestic soccer players...So I am not worried. Fianna Fail will see us out of this. They are a sports-mad party for a sports mad nation after all. LOL!
Mind you, RTE will be reporting on the new baby boy the second cousin the Stockport County groundsman's wife had as their lead in soccer story so we'll hear nothing of the new sponser when it happens.

Do you think the AIL is in all but name now on the cards that the Eircom sponsership is a fallout from this?
What put down? All you did was re-enforce my original point?
Eircom are looking at sponsorship oppurtunities and the FAI are looking at sponsors. Both crowds, and any new potential sponsors wil try and get the best deal for them. Eircom may be sutting their budget and want to concentrate on the national team, the Fai may be looking to establish the LOI brand (as their new TV dealings indicate) and yet you, and people like you are using a namelss, quoteless press article as the beginning of the end. I told you, and others, to calm down and stop using worlds like shocking and crisis, as it is not shocking and is not a crisis. It’s a normal negiotian period.

How do you know the FAI are looking at sponsors? I would hope they are but how do you know? People are hardly going to go for anything bar the best deal that they think is best for them. the FAI are have still not made a comment on this ! hmm
something is wrong.
Sorry Dodge i need to ask you are a Garda? Just i can imagine you at a crime scene saying "Nothing to see here folks now move along". I think my sources are correct and there is a major crisis looming for the league and this could will be a fatal body blow if the league can't get a sponsor nor can the current league champions. But for the good of the league lets hope the FAI acted before the smoke was spotted this morning.
When are the schools back?
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
Of course the FAI are looking at sponsorship, they are actually very good at getting sponsors.

"It's time for the FAI to grow up." John O'Donoghue, Minister for Sport, RTE , Sunday 7 Nov 2004
I think it might be a good thing to get new sponsors in, we need to get sponsors that will engage with the league... the booze companies will be more active I think as they have the marketing skills turn the sponsorship into some kind of revenue unlike eircom,
At least we might be able to get Ireland shirts without sponsors on now... it cheapens the shirt to put a sponsor on it and no other countries do it except for small tags on the sleeve... never bought the national shirt because of the sponsors... I want to support my country not be a big green drunken billboard...
