Was starting to think that there was a possibility of two teams going up myself.
Its very important that if we dont finish first, we claim the second spot and see what happens.

Personally I don't want us to put it to the test but it won't be cut & dry in the close season.
It's bucketing here in Dundalk and possibly same nationwide. Will there be games played tonight?

I'd say two will 3rd from bottom would stay in the premier if any team is getting booted out.

    1st or nothing I'm afraid.

If you're trying to say that if any team is refused a license (Cork being most likely) then the highest placed relegated team would re-admitted to the premier, then I think you're right

I'd imagine that is what would happen alright.

As for this scenario, although it's unlikely, it'd probably be the highest placed team in the first to secure a premier licence I would imagine..

Dundalk Play Athlone tonight. Hopefully a victory for the lilywhite army. then Kildare on Thurs. We could be 8 points clear of Waterford before they kick a ball on friday.

True but if we lose to Athlone and Kildare then we don't deserve to win the league in my opinion. You really have to look at getting max points off all the bottom 4.

I doubt we would aim for going straight back up if we are relegated. We will lose about half of our first XI and won't be able to replace them with a First Division budget. If we do go down we will probably look to rebuild for a year (maybe two) then look to go back up, although I think we would be in the First for quite a while...

That's what happened with the Dublin City fiasco a couple years back.

Tell that to sporting fingal. Bloody kildare. We have droped 4 points against them. This could be vital at the end of the season.

Reports from the game aren't good for us. Its a marathon, not a sprint and this season cetainly will go down to the last game. I still feel we are the best team in the division and this is our year to finally get out of this league.
I don't think we will implode like last season but I need to see a solid performance now against Kildare and Shels to assure me once again that we will win the league.

i hope they do too, but they clearly have a problem with pacy forwards who put the whole team into retreat. Sheehan at Limerick and Noel McGee at athlone etc

Really want Dundalk to go up. Have been following the first division all year. Obviously Limerick would be my first choice but they never competed really. Limerick in the league would be much more healthy for the league in the long run. With the lack of west coast teams in the premier Limerick would give the league more than what Fingal or shels argueably would as another Dublin club in the premier Division would be suicide. Dundalk could be considered another Dublin club as they are so close to the capital but their following would give the premier Division a better dimension.

ask someone who commutes to Dublin from Dundalk how close they think they are!!!! Dublin is further from Dundalk than England from France your argument stinks and so does the Liffey Sure Limerick and Thurles are one and the same so!

Dundalk is actually closer to Belfast than Dublin... That's our real capital.
