The amount of time an effort that goes in to the Aul managers job is massive,an all unpaid by the way.We all hear stories of Msl an even Aul managers an the alledged sums they are being paid to win,or more often than not not win anything so who would begrudge him havin a peice of the pie,but I'd be surprised as I do know he has been offered an accepted the Aul managers job again for next season. But no doubt every time a position comes available then his name will be mentioned as is the way.He is one of a very select group now in that he has managed a team to a national title an now he would be in a position to fill any position again junior or senior without anyone being surprised.

Most people know who I am on this site so when I say he has not been asked to take over up in O'Neill Park then thats the case.I will however readily admit to the fact he was one of many who were asked if they were interested in the position when we advertised in the ECHO pre season. He declined an the rest is history.
Would have to disagree with you Littleman the aul managers job is easy compare to effort and time that goes into running a team for a season. The clubs do all the work and he picks the best, how hard that be......

    Warm up

A nice warm up for the second AOH cup semi-final tonight! Finished Glenthorn 3-2 Blarney Street. Only watched the first 30 minutes as I had to head to work. At this point Glenthorn were 2-1 up . Quite different sides from what would be expected to start on Friday night for both sides! Quite a few players trying to stake a claim for a starting position next Friday!! It should be a cracker! Never a dull game between these sides so far this season

    Yellow & Red Cards

    Lads,

The AUL indicated at the Xmas meeting that the fines were too much and they will be reducing them. It doesnt help the money we have already paid out. What about looking for a reduction in the registration fees for next season?

They also said they couldnt change the rules mid season. The government realised they needed a second budget, so they did it. Do we need to ensure a rule change that we can change things mid season if necessary?

    Straight from the horses mouth

Couldnt agree with you more there horse. For me its not that they cant change the rules as your excellent point about the government proved its more of they perfer that any changes are at the agm an then they have a season to see if they are good or bad,,,,,,,at the clubs an players cost I may add ?

My own opinion (an I can almost hear the gasps in certain corners because I've said what I think) is that as soon as the new budget came on board then the yellow card fines should have been done away with an repalaced with just 3 yellows equals a missed game.It in all fairness is an still in the future could be an excellent way of keepin players in line(5euro a yellow) but with the way the recession is makin every penny count its an unfair penalty for what most would view as their 90 mins away from the everyday problems they hav so all in all a bit ill timed.

The reds fine too could be reduced in line with the recession, its 30 for a red depending on the severity,70 if you diont show at the meeting.I personally know of 2 lads who have jacked in playin this year because they couldnt afford to pay the 70 as their out of work. They should have gone to the meetin I know but they didnt an whos left to foot the bill, the club again.

Horse when your on the Aul commitee please sort all this out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Sham,my comment with regards to the Aul job ,please try to understand the context in which I meant it,its only 6 games encluding final an add maybe 3 to 5 friendlies an thats all he has to work with , not a season. The back round work that needs to be done for that amount of games is huge.Tis at another level all together than league management .Finding out the opposition, knowing how they play, who plays 1 to 11,left leg right leg, weak point strong points of the opposition.Maybe we could all learn from how the Aul approached things this season.Aint as simple as just turnin up an playin,as a wise man once said ,a Cork man I think too "fail to prepare an prepare to fail".

As for the clubs do all the work an he picks the players,I've seen the entire squad bar one player this season an for the most part a lot of um played a lot better for the Aul than they did with their clubs but again that is just my own opinion. Its a squad of excellent talent but it has to be made into a unit an click so to speak in a very short space of time.Thats down to the man ,not the club. The proof is in the puddin, tis 43 years since we won it,a lot of great managers an great players couldnt get near it,but hes won it an nobody can take it away from him.

Absolutely fcukin ridiculous if that is true. Horse the sooner you get on that AUL committee the better. We've had no evening game for the last 2 weeks and then we're supposed to play 4 games in 7 or 8 days or whatever it is?! Wat a joke.

I hope they are not for definate.

I know seems to happen every season... Happened us 2 years ago where we played 12 games in 30 or so days. We looked at it and had on average two days rest between each game... Then suddenly we were finished and there were teams left with 2-3 games to play...

Should also add Glenthorn play Blarney St in AOH cup semi on Fri 24th So they'd have 4 in 7/8 days as well. And then Wilton who haven't had a game in a while get given 2 games Thurs and Sat... Madness...

I know teams have games to play and there is some pressure on but the main games with date deadlines can only be the cups as the finals are probably fixed for the cross.

    Matches

We have 5 games from Sunday last until next Tuesday. I think its wrong because we were promised only Tuesdays, and its hard enough for guys to rush and go without a meal one night of the week.

I understand the fixtures secretary is unwell, and he is an old friend of Blackstone having letting us share their pitch, so I hope he gets better soon. Health is more important than football.

We are in an off year as regards major championship so what is the big rush? The point could be made that the AUL board need a break too, and that is understandable, but we still have 6 weeks until the end of May. We played the June weekend last year.

I just noticed Mayfield are away to WGHill on some midweek day next week. That will be tough for the Mayfield lads. I know Watergrasshill are in a few cups, but we should try and avoid fixtures like that.

Thanks for the election votes lads, but I wont be going for the AUL committee soon!! We all fall into the easy trap of blaming them for everything, but, who will do it if they dont?

We had a referee recently, who has dis-improved unbelievably over the last 12 months. We won the game he reffed us in, but, he was really poor. I dont know why - is his motivation gone?

I saw a guy ref a schoolboys game recently, and he gave the throw the other way because they were too slow in taking it. I dont think thats a rule so I asked a ref about him. I was told he doesnt go to the meetings and is quoted as saying "I am only in it for the money". I know we are stuck for refs, but are we that stuck?

If ye get the chance over the next few weeks, ye must go see and Under 7's game. I saw 10 minutes of one last week, and it was the funniest thing ever. Two players chatting as the game went past them, another fella ran over to the sideline as the opposition came towards him to show his mother his dirty hands from his fall. It was brilliant.
The best bit was when one team got a free, and the whole team ran to the manager asking to take it. The guy who eventually took it made such a long run up that he was knackered when he finally kicked the ball. Real Football!!!

Just heard we beat Leeside B 5-1.....unbeaten in the last 7 league games!! Back to my old gripe of why cant two teams go up from every division. Instead of just Greenwood, there would be 6 teams in our division with something to play for. There has to be some way to fix it!!

What is the rush in finishing the seaason so soon and cramming all the games in together... agree with horse best wishes to tony chambers and hopefully we will see him soon..
well lads our season comes down to tomorrow night and i dont think we could have asked for tougher opponents in the semis of the AOH.. we have now played glenthorn 3 times in last 2 weeks and there has not been a kick of the ball between both teams..altough they did beat us on tue night but i dont think either team was anything like they will be tomorrow night..few injuries going in to the game and only tue night gary coughlan done his ankle so things could be better.. in fact the last week has seen our coffers take a serios hit with physio but it will be all worth it if we come thru.. hopefully the game will continue along the same pattern as the last few only this time we might come out on top!!!!..based on the last 3 meetings you cant rule out extra time or pens either.. saing that id settle for a sloppy boring one nil... cant see it happening tho

Sorry Horse have to disagree with you for once - Mayfield away to Watergrasshill isnt so bad - same side of the city at least - well general region - its when a team has to cross from northside to southside that the problems occur or to far flung places like Mallow, Michelstown etc for midweek games

Seriously I cant understand people having a whinge about having loads of fixtures towards the end of the season - that just means usually that teams did well in the cups so the solution is in ye're own hands lads - Get knocked out in the first round!!!

4 games in 8 days ola?! Have we not got every right to complain?! It's ridiculous to think that a team who have done well all season and have gone far in all cup competitions gets punished for doing so. It's a handicap if you will, we're being forced to carry an extra few pounds!! (no comments please)! Injuries and fatigue will set in that wouldn't of happened otherwise were they asked to play only two games a week. Now I know that other teams are in a similar situation, but the what gets me is that we've had two free midweeks these past few weeks...cudnt someone have said, hang on a minute? Why don't we give Kinsale a game this week to lighten the fixture load towards the end of the season?? Perhaps give them a game against Glenthorn to break up the glenthorn/blarney st run of games??!? Or god forbid ask Wilton to play a game in April??!! But no.

In fairness they tried doing it differently by bringing the mossy until after christmas but this obviously hasn't worked. Change it to knock out next year lads for the love of god!!

    Bad season

Innishvilla's stint as a 1st division side is virtually at an end. Innishvilla lost last night to their nearest rivals in a true 6 pointer... After a disappointing season in an extremely competitive league, must be said I've been to and played a couple of games for them and I must say Division 1 from top to bottom is really close (evident when 2 weeks ago any one of 6 could still win the 1 promotion spot). But as they say tables never lie... Mathematically not gone yet but need 2 huge results against the two sides battling for the title (Greenmount and Pearce).
Only bright spot is the semi-final 2nd leg of County Cup this weekend but we'll have to play a damn site better than the first leg where we handed them 3 goals on a plate...

The hope had been to keep the club in the 1st Div as there is a really strong underage structure in place and we are only now just beginning to see the outcome of this. With a really strong showing from our youths, and our U14's and U13's look likely to be playing premier football next season...

I have to agree with you bogwarrior. Its a joke the way they given so many games together at this stage. There's been so many weeks that teams have had free to play,it's beyond me why they wait until now!!.Have you noticed they seem to be holding off yourselves an wilton for the last game of the season interesting!!!.By looking at the games the season could be wrapped up by sunday week!.

Sorry lads again i have to disagree - of course the AUL will keep the big games til the end of the season - they try not to have things wrapped up too early to make things exciting

Nothing wrong with holding big games until the end to make things exciting, but any team that has to play 4 games in 7 or 8 days is at an unfair disadvantage.

Kinsale by May 1 will have only to play 4 league games and 2 cup games (AOH Final and Mossie Semi) by the end of May. This could easily be achieved by playing 1 game every weekend and 2 midweek games on different weeks. If Kinsale are lucky enough to beat Macroom in the Mossie Semi then that final is on 3rd June.

No problems with that schedule - what's the rush in finishing everything in 2 weeks.

If anybody says - that's the way it always was - then I say, the way it always was is sh*t and needs changing to stop our best players voting with their feet - and transfering to MSL clubs!!!
No MSL club would be forced to play so many games in such a short space of time.

I agree with keeping the big games until the end of the season i'm just saying why run the league off in a couple of weeks, doesn't stand to reason!!.I think glenthorn are probably the biggest losers in all this but at the same time how come they went so long without a game all season does anyone know. With kinsale it's no fault of their own, maybe next season they shouldn't play so well!!!!!!!.

Victims of our own success I suppose but after working so hard all year in all competitions it's a terrible way to end it. Absolute madness on behalf of the AUL.

In regard to your underage structure Innish i have been meaning to ask you about that? You seem to be very strong altogether. When did you decide to focus on this? It really has gone from strength to strength and several clubs would do well to look at the progress ye have made.
