Can anyone tell me what happened to Newtown.
not correct.. newtown f.c were disbanded after the end of last season with very strong rumours of amalgamation with park rangers !! which at the moment does not seem to exsist if amalgamation had taken place park or the new club would have been forced to play their football in the clare league..( munster / fai rule )the clare league had been keeping a close watch on this situation.. park rangers have benefited with a lot of ex newtown players now playing for them but bunratty fc & shannon olympic also picked up some of these ex newtown players... this issue has been mentioned before on this thread and if ye want to check back i'm sure it may be explained betetr![]()

division 1 b in limerick ( techically 3rd division) but maybee without influx of new players park could have been in more serious trouble all the talk seems to be based on the future for park only time will tell .. who knows .. bring back newtown . sad to see 30 years of a clubs history gone in one seasonbut cannot really see how newtown could make a comeback... check out website on www.parkafc.com.. even the last remaining piece of newtown history the ladies team now seem's to have been removed and park afc are now running a ladies team... !! having seen park A play a few times this season some may already say they already had a few ladies playing

NEWTOWN HAVE FOLDED 7th July 2008
The Clare League are very disappointed that Newtown have informed us this morning that they have withdrawn all teams from our League. We have done everything possible to keep them in our League over the last number of months. The club have told us that they can no longer get people to help out with managing teams in their club and have no option but to fold. From what we have been told most of their players are staying in the Clare League and this should ensure that some of the existing teams in our League are stronger for next season. Shannon Olympic are entering a youths team next season which should also help keep the younger players playing in the Clare League. If any player that played with Newtown last season needs help finding a new club for next season then contact the League Secretary Oliver Fitzpatrick on 086-8455373 or oliver@claresoccer.net.![]()

What do ye make of the cup draw lads.... Some tough games and possible A vs B team in the Bridge...
A lot of the premier teams seem to have drawn each other.
Yeah they met in Round 2 last year...
Manager resigned after they got a hammering against Corofin alright...I believev Murty Joe is after getting involved with them now...Don't think they have had a game since before the christmas due to the games being called off over the weather.....
What is the story with Ballycasey if Newtown have folded, it would be an awful shame if iut was idle as they had a great set up there.....
I eats the beef......
With the weather being so bad Park AFC use both grounds for all teams. We the A-team have used 3 pitches this year, Riversides first pitch and Ballycaseys 1st and 3rd pitches. All depends on amount of home fixtures in any given weekend. With the School Boys playing on Saturdays and Junior Teams under 18s and up playing on Sundays its up to grounds man Willie to decide who plays on what pitch, but the weather also has a big say in it.
If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later
FORM IS TEMPORARY, CLASS IS PERMANENT
What is Park's own pitch like.....
I eats the beef......
Well they have 6 at the moment, if its the Main pitch you on about at Riverside then its Probably 1 of the best pitch's in Shannon apart from the Wolf Tones Camogie pitch (unreal). Thing is its kinda the same as Ballycaseys first pitch in that it doesn't take much rain for it to cut up.
