people here really have very little to worry about. So you and your buddies didnt get a few programmes the way you would have liked. Heres some advice. Deal with it and move on - a decision was made rightly or wrongly. No need to cry over it to your foot.ie buddies.

I have no sympathy for the middle man for some random english guys who dont know f-all about my club or the league and are looking to make a profit (however small) off Bohemians' programmes. I dont know whats so wrong about that.

As BohDiddley has pointed out TWICE now, the programmes are available to ANYONE by emailing the club directly. Yet people still want to have a good aul moan. Zzzzzzz....

Sometimes I think a lot of the Bohs-related commentary here on foot.ie says more about the poster than about BFC. In this case, I think there's little room for doubt.

I'm not just having a go at Bohs. I think the club have some very good ideas such as offering the bar to visiting supporters at Setanta Cup games in Tolka and Inchicore.

The programmes are not available by emailing Bohs. They are only available after the game IF not sold on the night. Why don't the club sell their programmes on ebay or through the website if they are so concerned re cutting out the middleman? I've seen at least Dundalk and Rovers both selling merchandise on ebay.

It may only be a few of hundred euro however any EL club that makes a decision to turn away revenue should be questioning themselves.

Anyway I just hope no other club decides to copy your idea.

As I said, if there are surplus copies, and someone wants to block-buy them, that can be done via email. If they are available, they'll be sold. If they're not, the club is not out of pocket.

My point is that you cannot guarantee a programme for a Bohs home game now without going to the match.

Yes I'm sure you'll sell leftover copies to anybody that wants them. I've no doubt there isn't exactly a clamour for them as you state. I think you'd be better off keeping a few of each and giving the rest out to local schools. I'm sure Four Star pizza for example would like that.

By all means insist on orders a week in advance or ask for payment up front but you need to honour these then whether it sells out or not.

Some eL clubs are great for putting aside programmes, some are terrible mainly through being too busy or forgetful or just incompetent. I don't like it but wouldn't come on here slagging them off. However to make a conscious decision to turn away revenue and an opportunity to promote your club is unforgivable. I can name plenty of clubs that could mess up a pre-order of programmes (including many previous regimes at Limerick) but none in any league that would refuse them.

I didn't but would gladly do so in the future. I was the first person over to the sellers. I'm told that is not possible unless the policy changes. I had to go up to Dalyer to buy tickets last week anyway.

Bray have received a pre-order of 150 programmes for their friendly with Leeds on Sunday. The programmes are €5 each. I was talking to the editor last night and he was thrilled. It's not just about the money he has made for his club. He takes a lot of pride in producing a quality issue (as do Bohs btw). many of those that end up buying it won't know or care too mauch about Irish football. Some will probably not have even heard of Bray Wanderers. I'm sure without even having seen the programme yet that they'll have a very positive image of the club. If Bohs play Leeds you'd tell the same guy thanks but come talk to us after the game and if there are any left we'll gladly sell them to you.

But if someone turns up at a match during which the main gates have to be opened to cope with an unexpected late rush, and asks for 150 that otherwise would go to someone actually at the match, looking to read teamsheets and previews, and says they're for people who maybe have never heard of the club and are unlikely ever to darken a Dalymount turnstyle, then I'd say they'd come a poor second.

That would be the case at most clubs, unless they are into vanity publishing and are thrilled to pieces at having their programmes bought by people who are far away.

I'd be quite happy to order and pay a week or more in advance once I can also COLLECT BEFORE the game and not rely on the programme not selling out on the night.
