Accoding to TV3 last night they are doing it "as a matter of principle"
No, not the result last night, the news on the Radio this morning that they're appealling the cup result.....
Didn't give much details, but I assume the board of control told them they weren't going to order a replay?
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.

coincidentally the morning after the home leg in Europe they announce it..... Pleased I didn't go to Tolka "as a matter of principle" now, and I pity the people who went down to support the eL last night for the good of the league......

i'm afraid i went and the performance was just gutless from the highest paid professional footballers in this country
the crowd was pathetic and there was simply no "buzz" at all
i tried to give shels the benefit of the doubt
but im afraid EVERY cliche is true
1/ they have no body of fans who back them vocally
2/ they're players are soul-less mercenaries who have no shame
3/ they are wánkers who will destroy the image of irish football for a quick buck -appeal the sligo result after their appeal for el fans to support them!
theres no hope for them
If you go on the Shels board, all their fans are calling both the performance last night and Ollie's decision a disgrace. Most of them are saying they are ashamed to be Shels fans this morning. Fair play to them, imagine having to put up with all the crap that man creates.

I'm in quite a predicament... who the fu*k do I want to win the league/finsh second/win the cup...
Shels don't ever deserve another chance at Europe...
Cork are right shower and if they win the League you'll never hear the end of it...
Bohs are the 'Big Club' and because Kenny is a spoofing idiot.
I hate to see any of these clubs win the League
So if Longford can't win the league then I'm backing Pat's, they've finally got it together and they've fantastic support... Rovers would be other alternative, they'd make Tallaght quicker if they won the league...

i cant fathom why yee dont challenge either
we always have shít hard games v longford
surely its not that much more of a push to be genuine contenders?
we simply can't master Cork or Shels at the moment... Pat's - Longford is always a good game with a great atmosphere... especially at Richmond...

life is random
In fairness to $hels fans, they actually made some noise last night (the crowd was $hit though, about 2,000 I reckoned). The team performance was pathetic. The defence left Olympia so much room that they were bound to concede goals. Their left winger was terrible as well (was it Cahill?), he was really slow.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
you can't blame the fans for this, it has to fall squarely at Ollie's feet.
what annoys me is the timing of it, there was all this would they/wouldn't they talk during the week. The majority of fans and Pat Fenlon seem to oppose a replay.
The appeal goes out to the neutrals to cheer them on in europe and as soon as they are out, they pull this stroke, i guess if they had progressed, the extra money might have swung it in the other direction.
sad thing is, i think it might have to be replayed now, the EL shoots itself in the foot for how many years in a row now?
Fair enough having a go about the appeal but don't talk complete balls while you do it, if you didn't think the support from the new stand on thursday was good then you're either bitter or brain dead, the atmosphere there was brilliant from start to finish despite the preformance and I've heard the display pre match looked brilliant from the rest of the ground.Originally posted by wws

And there was around 4,000 there, again lets get the story straight here, not a good crowd for European nights but there was not just 2,000 there.
Have to agree - I was in the new stand and there was loads of singing and shouting throughout the game.Originally posted by Slash/ED

Don't know about 4000 though - nearer the 2000 I'd say. 2/3rds of the eircom Stand, most of the new stand, no-one (bar a few Slovenians) in the open stand and the Riverside Stand maybe half-full under the roof, with no-one in the open. Don't know what that adds up to, but it felt like 2500 tops...?
I've heard 4,000 and thought it looked about that myself, could be wrong, but you have to remember how much bigger the Riverside is compared to the others so a smallish looking crowd in there would add up to a bit. Estimating crowds isn't exactly a strong point of mine mind you so it's all guess work.
True, if that's the way they are going to play. I was never in favour of Fenlon, but he was given a second chance after the disgrace of losing to Hibs last year, and what did he do? Lose again! Fenlons record in Europe: P4 W0 D1 L4. When you think that we would have played Porto last year and Liverpool this year I think he's lost the club AT LEAST 500k not to mention a lot of prestige.Originally posted by Xlex

Very True. I live in Cork and am sick of the nonsense they come up with. OK, they have two or three very good players now and it is a credit to them that they have such pride in their local side, but to think they should be winning the league every year ( especially with the squads they've had for the past 5/6 seasons ) in complete rubbish.Originally posted by Xlex

Having all that said, if they won the league and progressed a round in Europe I'd be happier with that than seeing Shels make a b*lls of it again.
I'm not so sure of that, they play some good stuff.Originally posted by Xlex

You're right though- it is about pride. Why shouldn't we expect to win the league every year? We've been the bridesmaids of this league for too long. Very soon, we're going to go that extra bit and win the league, and then there'll be no looking back.
Heard on the radio this morning that there won't be a replay.
Despite the appeal being upheld, Sligo get to go through to the next round.
