I think so, but it got a Stiff release too. The Stiff release may have been 1987. Can anyone confirm this? (academic, I know, as the Pixies seem to have it sewn up)

Mmm, according to Discogs, it got a WEA release in '87, and an Island release with the new cover in '88

Ah yes ...Holly Johnson, Martika, Damien (Timewarp), that really annoying Bangles song ...1989 will surely cause a riot. Transvision Vamp were still really annoying ...it had it all.

Back to 88 though Voice of the Beehives Let It Bee has some very fine moments ...I Say Nothing, I Walk The Earth...

As there was no 'On Our Big Fat Merry-Go-Round' by A House, I had to go with REM...

That's what the 'Other' option is for.

If the Pogues are out, then it's clearly The Fall, Frenz Experiment.

Btw, the usually "bang on" amazon.com also have NWA as a 1989 release (as does Rolling Stone's "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die."

Godammit you people are really starting to **** me off. You're looking at a reissue again, amazon also have a 1988 release, not to mention a further couple of dozen websites citing 1988 as it's release if you put in Straight Outta Compton 1988 release

Anymore trawling through releases and reissues and I'm ending this competition. It's already had the life sucked out of it anyway

I thought the whole point of weekly polls was to allow seven days of 'discussion'. Questioning release dates was inevitable. Don't lose the faith yet, Jebus (although if 1989 isn't as one-sided as a Zimbabwean election I might throw my hat at it as well).

It's grand as long as people actually make a bit of effort to look up the right release date, it's quite simple and I've been patient enough with people on this. I'm able to gather what year an album is released within a minute of searching google, why can't some people on here? So in future anyone jumping on, throwing their toys out of the pram and mouthing off without the proper research done will start getting slapped with infractions

There's a lot of sick, sick people out there Endabob. Sick, sick people who think they're hard but walked into ladies hairdressers and asked for a poodle-perm. Personnaly I'd gas them like the rats they are but then I'd be the one called a criminal.

I'll give benefit of the doubt until the 1989 poll but I'm with Noby, if it isn't an African Tin-Pot Dictator style landslide I will finally give up on the human race.

I applaud the Bon Jovi voters - at least they're being true to themselves, not using hindsight, but voting for what they were actually listening to 20 years ago.
Sure we could all pretend that in 1988 Ireland was the creditbility capital of the world, where we all listened to Pixies, Metallica etc., whereas the reality had a lot more mullets and stone-washed denim, and poodle-rock was the order of the day.

We're both talking about Milli Vanilli, right?

Your tolerence and magnanamity disgusts me.

    It won't be.
I've gone all contrary and will certainly be voting differently to what I said on another thread.

Missed my oblique reference Lionel. Should have googled Daisy Age!
Nothing against the record but I'll get into bed with anyone (in the interests of political expediency) so I'm rallying all the anti-Roses to my De La Banner.

BTW Jebus can you make the polls public? Always nice to see who voted for what.

Can this be done retrospectively? Name and shame...

1989 appears to be a public poll. I'll be editing my Christmas card list accordingly.
