AFAIK, Uefa award the number of places you get, your champions have to go into the champions league, after that it's up to the FAI to distribute the placings, so they could award the intertoto cup place to the FAI cup winners. it's not a bad idea from the point of view of teams progressing but i would be against it purely because it would take so much from our premier Cup competition.
as to Shels performance, i agree with dodge that in general EL clubs let the heads drop after and early goal, and allowing them to score two in the first half (while playing 451 ) casts the team in an amateurish light.

Don't think so. Go to http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/19070.pdf
Page 9 details eligibility to enter the UEFA cup competition. The UEFA cup is open to the domestic cup winners and teams who finish high in the league.
For futher details on the Toto cup: http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/19069.pdf
This comp is only open to those that finish just outside the UEFA cup places in the league.
So, our Cup winners will keep going into the UEFA cup. Which is only right. Otherwise, some of the glamour will go from the cup and it'll end up being like the Italian cup, a nothing event.
Quiet day at work, so I've had time to look this up.
Originally posted by Ultan AFAIK the only team that will be seeded in next years CL will be Bohs - if we qualify that is. It was the same this year as well, if Shels had of won the league last season they would of had to play a qualifying game to face that BATE crowd. No doubt they would of blown that too...
Yeah you are right. I was looking at Uefa's list of co-efficents and bohs where ranked 4th in the list of 1st round seeded teams. If Shels win the league I think they would be unseeded in the 1st round next year.
Although if Bohs got into the UEFA, surely they'd have a better chance of going through to the first round (seeing as how they seem the best adapted to European football here), where the points are doubled for any results? That's how we jumped there a couple of years ago - Bohs beat Kaiserslautern - and we could get a decent score if Bohs are in the UEFA next season I reckon.
