Picasa does it automatically for upload to picasawebs
Paint Shop Pro used to do it too,
What do you use? I don't want all-seeing-all-dancing, just want to batch resize for upload to my own Gallery install.

Wouldnt Photoshop deal with it?

I'm a GIMP user, and I'm really looking for a small, dedicated app that'll do it in 1 or 2 steps. Set defaults, drag and drop.
I use Gallery Remote. Very good. Resize to whatever you want, at set defaults. I use it for the gallery on our rugby website.
It's actually for Gallery I want it, but I didn't like Gallery Remote the last time I used it; not a fan of Java apps. It's been a while though, I'll give it another shot, thanks for the tip.

Windows or Linux? I know there's something like this built into the Nautilus desktop's context menu, but for something like that in Windows http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize seems ok
it also has support for "retargeting" which is sometimes a fantastic alternative to resizing: http://www.rw-designer.com/retarget-image-carving

I tried Gallery Remote just today and it seems to be pretty good, but I'll have a look at that one too thanks. Retargetting is a very impressive technology, didn't know it was in anything production yet.
I'm a Windows guy on the desktop still I'm afraid.

oooh oooh there's a plug-in that does it for the GIMP! You've got to try it out - immensely useful for designers but anyone would get a kick out of it really.
